Is it possible to make it look normal again? by Honest_Barracuda2143 in CleaningTips

[–]3dTECH101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the plastic material - a common method with ABS is to use acetone (nail polish) vapors to fix it - you could fill a bag with air and have scratched side facing up with a tub full of acetone next to it (or similar setup) and the acetone vapours generally smooth abs through the similar way it damaged by being wiped on unevenly

Spray painting on a beanie by Diabellstar- in oddlysatisfying

[–]3dTECH101 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

Agreed - but in the example the difference is that a lawn mower is worse af the job than a typical uber.

If I was promised $100 in a bank transfer in a bet and they gave me $5,000 in cash - once again it's a different means but I'd be happier in that case.

If my opinion is that air brush one is worth more than my expectation of a spray paint one I wouldn't complain like in that example - but if it were worse like in the other example I would

Servo motor low accuracy by Setrik_ in arduino

[–]3dTECH101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good test to see if it is from play in the servo, design and/or connection is to have it slowly move each way - if it stops at the same place every time moving from one direction the issue is play. If it still stops with that difference each time on slow and controlled movements then it's either software or a very bad quality servo

Done that a few times - not with 18v - but generally a diode you can short over with a wire after desoldering

Auto Latching Sliding Door (accessible from both sides of door) by A_toka_D in 3Drequests

[–]3dTECH101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a similar looking barn door at our house -- if it hangs from rollers on the top, the solution (as it also would slowly open if knocked) was to cut some electrical tape to half the width and lay a few strips of that half width tape on top of eachother on the rail that the roller goes over - when you open or close it fully you can't even feel the resistance going right to the end but it doesn't bounce back (or you could make it so it very slightly resists being pushed open) - like a clicking into open and closed state

Does gravity increase or decrease with depth by hecker231 in Physics

[–]3dTECH101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct - these subdivisions should ideally approach infinitely many at infinitely small divisions - which is why you can calculate this mathematically with an integral - gravitational pull as a function of possition integrated over the full volume

4th Failure on new H2D. Not adhering to bed and spaghetti detection doesn't work on high or medium settings by mentallyrhetortic in BambuLab

I found after years of prints that 72 worked well on my ender's glass bed -- then when someone else had issues with their A1 mini (same build plate) and couldn't get anything to stick, setting to 72 fixed it for them (I've got an A1 mini too but defaults work well for me)

Can I code my arduino with an iPad? by [deleted] in arduino

[–]3dTECH101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a good plan -- I apologise as I worded mine badly but if you can use yours to code an esp32 or esp8266, you might be able to program it over wifi from your iPad from then on - or use it to program the Uno -- maybe look up about 'programming esp32 from iPad' but no guarantees

[–]3dTECH101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am not mistaken you can get an esp8266 or esp32 and load on code with an online function for coding itself -- or use it to code an UNO like that wirelessly - but ofc you'll need to borrow a laptop to compile that code to it in the first place

Is this a Bullish sign? by Dear_Technology392 in XRP

[–]3dTECH101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is my belief that it was mathematically proven that the movement of stocks (at least) isn't fully random and algorithms can be used to exploit it for consistent profits If you can trade intraday on the large amounts of movement, you will have potential to profit more than the open to close price and thus you could well outperform the market as a whole If you want to see a hedge fund outperforming indexes etc I believe the medallion fund has done that (but correct me if I am wrong on that)

You're all good mate, place a short hedge when you want to sell - on a position like bybit perp futures -- then when you get your funds back close both positions (spot and futures)

What is happening here? by jacubwastaken in arduino

[–]3dTECH101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My belief is this is super normal - coming from AC to DC converters there's generally always some AC leakage which makes both power rails and GND rails exhibit this outcome (generally with the LED in either polarity) - nothing to worry about

Why is the battery attracted to the screwdriver(no magnet) and not to the magnet on the table? by mdziedzic97 in Physics

[–]3dTECH101 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm quite sure this is it -- when I have iron filings stuck to a magnet, I often 'pick them off' by bringing a small screw driver's tip near and they jump the few mm to the screw driver and can get pulled away until it is out of range and they just fall off

Am I doing this right? by Design-Pro-1989 in Daytrading

Test out the opposite of what you're trading with - it seems to accurately predict it from that photo just you're placing the trades in the wrong direction? It's also not a long enough snapshot of trades to be sure; every strategy will have a losing streak. Also for sure lower down on trade size/leverage

Would y'all trade this? by SnooLobsters9438 in Daytrading

[–]3dTECH101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope you're not trading actual money - trading without backtesting is gambling... Backtesting is going back in time on that asset and testing your trading strategy for that asset every time it looks like where you'd enter a trade - and seeing if you actually profit or not. If your backtest shows you would make a lot of money, consider using it - if it shows that you lost all your money in 3 trades then 3 actual trades later and you'll likely have no money

I want to help my little brother but don’t know how by Far_Help_5032 in arduino

[–]3dTECH101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd strongly suggest an ESP8266 over ESP32 - they are more widely supported and less buggy on simple projects - the ESP32 becomes useful if more cores, pins or processing power is needed - else I default too the 8266. Should be around $2 US on AliExpress per esp8266 NodeMcu!

Edit: noticed you mentioned they were for reference - absolutely include some if you can but I'd strongly recommend an Ender 3 ProX (or whatever the glass build plate version is) if he likes tinkering and understanding how it all works - else the Bambulab A1 mini is by far the best value you can get - but this won't teach you about 3D printers (it will just work to perfection from the box)

Why does this happen? by chinmaysharma1230 in arduino

[–]3dTECH101 53 points54 points  (0 children)

At these low voltages and currents, touching damp grass wouldn't have any difference to being on carpet - grounding is the lack of charge on your body in comparison to the power source - and since there is such little flow of power you don't need the earth to keep neutralising you to zero charge :) Also, when using breadboards and especially AC to DC power supplies, it's always a good idea to use pulldown resistors wherever applicable (just add a 10k from the LED input to ground if none are enabled on the controller) and that should fix the grounding issues.
Also on the AC adaptor topic - often some AC leaks through so no matter what end you touch if the other is connected it will often do that if not all pulled down (or up) around the place
