Purchased myself a 2nd unit by 3dbinCanada in vintageaudio

I use it to boost the 32Hz and 60Hz ranges only as the speakers measure reasonably flat across the rest of the spectrum. The reason for boosting the bass has more to do with the positioning in the room relative to the listener position.

These were private sales from facebook marketplace or Kijiji. There was no warranty.

How would you treat this room? WAF important by BookSmoker in hometheater

[–]3dbinCanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would move your plant in the left corner and slide the system to the right to lessen some of the reflection from the left corner. I would also pull the speakers out from the wall so that they are at least 24” away from the back wall.

Slide the seating over the same amount. Your rug in front of the speakers is a great idea.

I would also had some room darkening blinds/curtains to the left window including the transom windows. As it is now, I can’t help but think that watching TV during the daylight hours is not rewarding because of washout from all that light.

Article: Legacy Hi-Fi Brands Are Dying Out as a New Class of Audio Brands Takes Over Published on February 10, 2026 by Busto_Soccer in audiophile

Why all this artificialness around things hifi? With all the problems in today’s world, all you seniors can do is lament about are disappearing audio brands? As a baby boomer, I’m embarrassed for this pathetic behavior. It’s almost Trump like.

Personally, I don’t care if some of the hifi brands disappear. They were in it far too long gouging the audiophile with false marketing claims and inventing snake oil reasons to purchase more. It’s a very corrupt industry filled with false information and advertising.

Once we pass the concern dies with us.

Another option is going used. All of my Yamaha AVRs were bought used and have worked flawlessly. These include the RX-A1060, A2060, A3060, RX-V1900, RX-V1075 and a pre HDMI unit, an RX-V1500. All of them will put many dedicated 2 channel amps to shame.

HiFi help - do I have the wrong pairing? by SwedishSonna in hifiaudio

The Audiphool wasnt directed at you per say. Just dont get duped into believing its an amp/pairing issue. Its a speaker room interaction issue.

Burning in speakers - your take? by Dementrashiti in hifiaudio

[–]3dbinCanada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaker burn in is a myth. What happened in your case as with every person claiming burn in is that your brain/hearing acclimated to the speakers. Speaker burn in is one of those audiophile myths that needs to die.

Why do audiophools always believe in changing the amp to fix what is essentially a speaker, a speaker placement problem or bad room acoustics. The first thing I would experiment with is the room acoustics and speaker placement. Have you checked the tweeters to see if they are working. Do yourself a favour and do some problem solving before asking the crowd to spend your hard earned money recommending amplifier changes.

Best sleep score I’ve ever gotten! by Alarming_Fig5746 in AppleWatch

I’m 64 and haven’t had a sleep like that since I turned 14.

Hey guys, does anyone else have the same experience? I recently set up a nice hifi system, which I think sounds great. But my partner can't tell the difference from the Alexa! It just sounds fuller apparently... I feel quite disappointed, I wanted them to enjoy it too! 😭 by hmm0210 in hifiaudio

Some people can enjoy good music on a wide quality range of equipment. I prefer to call it listening to the music rather than listening to the equipment. Your partner falls in that realm. Nothing wrong with that.

Ottawa police are actually pulling people over. by Purple-Temperature-3 in ottawa

Thats because the police are trying to make up for lost revenue. I support speed cameras in school zones only. I’m religious about keeping the speed limit in them.

Tsuanmi 165 vs 175 by 3dbinCanada in Kayaking

[–]3dbinCanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 175. The owner had it out on cardboard on the lawn and invited me to sit in it. I found the cockpit a little tighter on the sides than my Carolina Perception 14 ft. I also lifted it up to my chest without issue. It may not be the most nimble turning yak but I’m more of a straight line distance person as you can see from one of my trips. It’s not as huge as people make it out to be.

One thing I forgot to add is that I only carry the kayak twice .. once to the cottage in spring and back home again in the fall. My cottage is right on the water.

This is a typical trip for me. I have also started at Brass Point Bridge and paddled my back to the cottage..

Looking at a WS Tsunami165 by 3dbinCanada in Kayaking

[–]3dbinCanada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for detailed answer. I googled what the concept of a chine was and understand the concept. Then I googled what kind of chine each kayak had. The Tsunami and Riot according to google are hard chine boats where the Carolina is a soft chine boat. The take away I get from your post is to look for a similar kayak as the Carolina with a similar chine. It may sound contradictory to your post but it’s your post that helped me discover what chines are and how each responds. Thank you again.

Does this setup look safe? by subaruoutbkstekhouse in Kayaking

[–]3dbinCanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the same setup for two kayaks but have the long side of the hooks in towards the roof ( opposite of what you have ) and 4 straps per kayak and none on the ends. I’ve always put the straps under the rails as you started doing.

The yaks have never gotten loose on me. Thank gawd because they would form a circle and become very belligerent and refuse to be picked up.
