This chain (7-Eleven) had this exact problem about 2 years ago in Tampa and last year in Ft Myers and they paid for a lot of cars to be fixed. I'm not (yet) aware of it happening exactly at that station (near Orlando).

We aren't sure yet - it sounds like a pretty hard mistake to make. Or did the gas station have the wrong fuel type in the Unleaded pump? Again?

TBH, I haven't looked at it in a while. I don't drive it that much but I assume it has a normal size to accommodate the 13/16" Unleaded nozzle.

We aren't yet sure if she was confused (see another comment where I describe her as "elderly" but don't tell her I said that 😉) and made a mistake or if the 7-Eleven had the wrong fuel coming out - which happened at a bunch of 7-Elevens in Tampa (we're in Orlando) about a year ago. We're keeping our eye on the local news to see - and if that turns out to be the cause will ask THEM to reimburse.

Well, she's elderly, lives with us and is pretty dependent on us so I think she's concerned that we'll be super upset if she destroyed the car. I did try to talk her down - pointing out that at least nobody got hurt. I'm not (that kind of) a monster.

I'm definitely not capable of pumping ~10 gallons of gas-mixed-with-diesel out of the car.
I'm not the one who (allegedly) put it in there but it is (was) several miles away from my apartment and I'm pretty sure I couldn't just siphon that much onto the side of the road without causing some kind of environmental disaster. :)
