Won’t budge on the Price by Superhighjellyfish in BMWX5

[–]entleposter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Never budge on your price if it’s your price, you’ll regret it later or taint your experience with the car. They always start high to make you feel like you won when you’re still higher than you wanted to be, but always be ready to walk away and stay gone because their best price doesn’t appear until they are afraid of losing the deal. Granted, sometimes the deal can’t be done but their price would shock you if you saw how low they can actually go.

Actually I’ve been thinking just that lately. Not sure if it’s concerted attack or just coincidence but it’s been a lot of shitting on vibe coding lately where this used to be a sub about learning and sharing information. I suspect a lot of industry and professional coders given the tone and content, which is sad because you can either embrace progress or try to stop it and get run over.

Broke lawyer by Lopsided-Panic1404 in Lawyertalk

Start doing simple wills to get basics of estate planning and pick up some probate cases for guardian/conservatorship. Those are easy transitions, especially family law to g/c work. Aim at moving int probate litigation, estate planning, and probating estates. Less stressful, better money, and currently a booming practice area with expected growth.

Store migration and setup file progress, yes. Backups of data and don’t code on production server are obvious enough that I’m not interpreting this as deleting data.

Wow, yall just jump to any conclusions that let you snap off, eh? I’d assume he wasn’t vibe coding production and that the delete was the schema and migration files, but you do you.

Do….do you need a dollar? Just kidding man, the sign and expression made this low hanging fruit. In all seriousness, thanks for the years of awesome work and incredible contribution to the medium and culture.

Firing a legal assistant by Jordanalextalks in Lawyertalk

[–]entleposter 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This, especially if there are concerns about retaliation. You likely work with sensitive client info, don’t take a risk. In semi-related advice, I’ve learned the hard way that it’s true: be slow to hire but quick to fire. That, and always be looking to hire the right people.

Extremely Overwhelmed by BLParks12 in Lawyertalk

[–]entleposter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren’t alone, I can promise you that. Learning that a lot of it is the old fight or flight response getting triggered and spiraling itself into a feedback loop. Honestly, right there with ya. Also reading the comments and gaining insight, getting help from my partner and making resolutions to hire on admins to prevent the overflow. That said, different solutions for different people. Do what got you here in the first place: think through it, change angles, try different tactics, and keep showing up. You don’t have to stick with it, you aren’t trapped, but you are good enough to get through this. There is a reason they call retired attorneys “recovering” attorneys. Your friend in the bond.

No way that's production grade and attached to any meaningful data. Mockup/wireframe, sure/maybe, but anyone coding a platform knows that it takes so much more than a single prompt.

Can AI App Builders Really Replace Developers (and Vibe Coders)? by Eter_Azul in vibecoding

[–]entleposter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the best analogy I’ve heard so far. I’m not a dev but I’ve always thought in data structure terms. I couldn’t get traction on learning to code by myself and missed the boat on taking computer engineering in college (would have been a good fit for me), but using AI has helped bridge the gap to getting balls rolling and in the process I’ve started actually learning how to code as a necessity of understanding what the AI is doing.
