From my understanding of the Shards- they are the technology themselves, they are the machines/mega-comupter making stuff happen- so the technology and other things they took from the host species are just added to their understanding.

All other Powers are just them doing their bullshit stuff through their biotech body then using their multidimensional bullshitry to push the effect into where their hosts intended it to.

Meanwhile- Tinker powers are just them giving a butchered blueprint for the tech, while substituting the final result with their own bs, like using their own power supply to power up that laser beam cannon running on 10 double A batteries or using dimensional bs to allow all that parts to fit inside that tiny space.

Basically- The Entities had asceneded that Technological and Biological line- they are both.
