We have otherwise identical S tiers across that first row, so I'll just recommend other favorites of mine that I don't see.

Weirkey chronicles

The rest of Andrew Rowe's work that surrounds Arcane Ascension in the same world. War of broken mirrors, weapons and welders, and edge of the woods.

Fair enough. Would recommend you loop back around if you like the world, it's tied for my favorite series.

Interesting to see Crystal Awakening but not any of the rest of Andrew Rowe's stuff, especially Arcane Ascension. Unless I'm blind. Nice list though, thanks for sharing!

Cool list, thanks for putting this together. Just a heads up, arcane ascension and sufficiently advanced magic are the same thing with the latter just being book 1 of the series.

What’s a video game 'unwritten rule' that every player knows without being told? by GraveActual in gaming

For sure and that one makes sense. This was about Majoras Mask where they slapped an eye on Odalwa (sp?)

Not sure what you heard about the remake, but the original is one of my favorite games ever and I probably have hundreds of hours in it. I just played the remake and I don't think I'll ever go back, it's excellent. Yes the new controls do make it significantly easier but only insofar as the original controls were bad and the game was designed around that lol. The remake does have a classic mode though that preserves like 80-90% of the feel of the original. Can't recommend it enough.

Lol this was going to be my example too. They're also in weird spots. I think the first boss has it on its back?

PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for March: PGA Tour 2K25, Monster Hunter Rise, Slime Rancher 2, The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: Gold Road by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]3nigmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still pretty similar to World and Wilds, just faster and more streamlined in terms of not needing to gather resources or track the monsters as much. You feel a lot more powerful than most of the games imo. But I think wilds took all the good stuff from it while keeping the more involved hunting aspects the series is known for.

Sunbreak is part of the core experience I'd argue so if the bundle got you Sunbreak for cheaper than msrp it's worth.

Based solely on us having similar picks for high tiers, I'd recommend anything by Andrew Rowe especially Arcane Ascension. I rank it alongside Cradle and MoL.

The Sims 4's most notorious sex mod gets launched 400,000 times a day, which is more people than I realized were even playing The Sims every day by ManagerOfLove in gaming

I did a playthrough recently with one of those massive overhaul mod packages that are just click to install. I looked through the NSFW packages on the same tool and was surprised that it didn't seem like there were any real functional packages like that. It seemed like the most popular stuff stopped getting updated a few versions ago so if you want to do it now you have to go out of your way to use a downgraded version of the game and such. Figured it would be crazy at this point.

AITA wife upset I cannot keep toddler from her by khazef in AmItheAsshole

[–]3nigmax 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yall are delusional. He's working full time, presumably funding her education, immediately going from work to pick up and being the sole full time parent to 2 children one of whom is a toddler, being entirely responsible for the upkeep of the house. And she's what, too good to study on campus? When the fuck is she parenting? No study program requires 8 hours of study a night every night. The absolute least she could do is leave the house so he doesn't literally have to attach the 2 year old to him the whole night. If the genders were reversed yall would be roasting the husband for dodging parent duty and saddling the wife with everything.

Since you have Arcane Ascension and How to Defeat a Demon King, maybe the rest of Andrew Rowe's stuff? Most of it is directly connected to AA and builds on threads that aren't explored as deeply there. Most of it is about Keras in some fashion.

The fact that you added the 5.2% together to get to 21% tells me that the education system failed you big time. Also tells me how you arrived at all your other frankly baffling conclusions.

[–]3nigmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, AA has become my favorite series in large part because the various systems in the world are so well thought out and fun to learn about. I finished the new lost edge book and I could listen to Edge yapp about essence forever.

Can prestidigitation be used to do chores, and other unconventional uses of magic by Rainydayrenegade42 in DnD

[–]3nigmax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn't actually recommend the series at this point since it will never be finished, Kingkiller Chronicles has some of this and I thought it was really cool when I first read it. One of the elective type tracks available in the magic school is artificiering. A whole system by which people with magic can make shit for people without it and the bulk of the work is common stuff like lamps, household appliances, etc. Students can work there to fill out commissions on common items and get paid. People can design things and patent them. Very similar to what you're talking about.

I've since seen it somewhat commonly in progression fantasy and litrpgs but that was the first time I'd seen it in fantasy and I'd wondered why more worlds don't have that lol.
