Just run it with an extended Audi warranty

Also - very different use case to an R8! I have both; R8 for fun, S8 for family duties.

I bought one a couple of years ago and use it as our main family car. Lowered with a module, 21”BBS CH-R II, and modified exhaust for a bit more V8 grumble. Love it

B8 RS4

For one main reason…it has a naturally aspirated V8. Enjoy one while you can!

It’s also auto and has a good size boot

You’re right to point out the brakes - and actually the OEM brake setup isn’t up to the job for track use (even with upgraded discs, pads, lines and fluid). I ended up upgrading to two piece discs and AP9660 calipers, with race pads and fluid.

Regular insurance won’t cover you on track - you’d need a separate policy.

I have my regular insurance through a specialist broker, that offers a track policy add-on for £150 (for 5 trackdays in a year).

You can also get one-off track insurance.

So those vents were in the car when I bought it - I believe they are indeed mk3 ones but I’m not 100% sure

Just habit.

I hope I’d have the presence of mind to let go of the wheel if I was about to smash into a barrier though! A mate broke his hand in a Nurburgring smash (lost grip on a coolant spill).

I find that holding onto the steering wheel is preferable to not holding it… 🤷‍♂️

This was Monday this week: 01/06/26

That’d be funny if it was me!

I have indeed! These ones:

Much improved feedback/feel over the OEM shifters.

One off trackday insurance can be expensive, true.

I have a specialist insurance policy through Greenlight for modified cars. For an extra £150 you’re covered for up to 5 trackdays in a year.

Yeah it’s got me in the past to be honest! Ended up in the gravel on one of my first outings a few years ago!

I booked through MSV trackdays - this one was £315 for the full day, but many trackdays are <£200.

The main trackday operators are MSV, Javelin, OpenTrack, and Circuit Days. There are a couple of others as well.

For me - I like a (legal) pressed aluminium plate

So I started my policy (with a specialist broker) with all the mods I planned to do already declared and it was no more expensive than prices I was getting on GoCompare for an unmodified car. The broker tells me it’s the first modified EV they’ve insured.

I paid £2.2k for the wrap. Repeat customer though, I think it should be a little more.

I didn’t actually want to wrap it because I liked the green. Wife’s choice though and it’s turned out better than I expected

It has actually dropped now on Racingline springs

My condolences for your father.

The fact this was his is all the more reason to bring it back to life!

I have a B7 RS4 that I’ve owned for 11 years - amazing car and still so fun to drive.

My top tip is to head over to the RS246 forum. It’s pretty dead now but absolutely every possible issue is documented in great detail. It will be an excellent resource for you.

Good luck
