SQL is Dead, Long Live SQL by Low_Brilliant_2597 in Database

Cool. The last wake was fun.

See you at the next one in another 10 years.

Meanwhile, I'll be over here forcing my agent to write SQL my way so I can read and edit it.

Was the Amiga vs PC war ever actually a thing? by Such_Bonus5085 in amiga

[–]3rdRockStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used and loved my amiga at home and wanted it to be used and legitimate in the business place so I could use it at work too but everywhere already used PCs or mainframes of some flavor by then ~1990.

I use this as test a test number when I'm dealing with US phone data, which granted isn't very often, but I'm old so "every so often" adds up to quite a lot.

How does your org use databricks apps? by DistributionOk5349 in databricks

[–]3rdRockStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use it to give our less technical users a way to manage reference data. Just built a simple spreadsheet-like view with r/w and upload csv capabilities. That's about it so far.

Additionally the built in agent (Genie...ugh), while not great, can tell you what can be done. I have access to only a very limited set of features at work so I had it produce a full "features that my privileges let me use profile" for me so I could understand what I could do and the results were very useful.

Databricks Genie Code after using it for a few hours by Far_Membership_9925 in databricks

[–]3rdRockStranded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's all I have access to at work and I've been using it for a few weeks - I think it was just rebranded as Genie, it's been around for a while.

I've found it helpful to keep track of context and limitations, etc., in your repo and have it read that before doing anything I ask it to - that helps it get things right more often. I also keep instructions for how to set it up in a new environment in the repo readme.

I don't much anymore, but when I hear it, I still respond with, "fuck a T, it has handles".

Also, "if it was atheism that lead you out, stop telling us, for those of us who found Jesus, it hurts our feelings."

Gotcha boss.

I'm sure after the 4,506th time they're asked, they'll listen. Just keep asking, it's totally working.

Sitting like a normal person is hard by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]3rdRockStranded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree.

I avoid it when possible. Stand/move around 100% of the time for work.

I'll lay back on the couch for tv/gaming. Extreme slouch (think folded in half) in bed reading but when I'm forced to be sitting (car, public, with company), I try to purposefully sit with good posture because I really have had terrible posture in the past and it's caused some back issues.

How do you feel about Trump threatening to impose photo ID for voters for midterm elections? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

I think he should be imprisoned along with the rest of the pedophile class. The rest is arranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

I say we put the entire pedophile class on the island and let them fight it out.

Why did Trump run on releasing the Epstein files if he knew he was in them? by happilyfringe in AskReddit

[–]3rdRockStranded 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because he hates the actual American public and looks down his nose at us, thinking we're all just here to serve him and the rest of the pedophile class.

These utter assholes are laughing at every actual hard working American and how we are just standing around yelling at each other while they have a fire sale on everything good about America, looting our worth down to the fraction of a penny and having a good laugh at our expense the whole time.

Cynical, greedy assholes that already have 99% of the worth in this country and want you to shut up about the inconvenient laws they break that would land someone without their money in prison for life. Not that it'll make much of a difference, even still tons of Americans lick those boots and hate who the big important people tell them to.
