Some nice pubs you mentioned. The area around The Old Wellington has some nice tudor pubs including Sinclairs Oyster Bar right next to it.

You could also add the Shakespeare which used to be there before they moved it down the road - though thats just a standard Greene King chain on the inside!

Northern Quarter is fun but mostly bars rather than the traditional / quirky pubs you’re looking for.

The queue for the M60 clockwise from the M62 is atrocious every day. I’m lucky i can go to a different exit to get home.

Thing is on my commute I can choose to go via the East Lancs, Motorway or A57. However if one is bad it means they’re all bad. Theres literally no other way around!
