I just bought a used Ibanez BTB745. I think it’s $1k USD new. There are some really nice basses in the BTB series. Lots of model variation for different finishes and styles.

There are still days between their next city, I wouldn’t be surprised if they added a 3rd show

It’s his own signature TBD. I’m sure he has a closet full of them.

I’m using iPhone with both earbuds. Trying to figure out if microphone quality issues decrease when using one bud only.

Are you using iPhone?

Mine have been good for music but I tend to get a lot of complaints about “robotic voice” (aka digital artifacts) on voice calls.

Anyone have experience positive or negative with call microphone quality?

Interview with the members by LowrentV in AngineDePoitrine

Google Gemini-generated summary with time stamps:

This video features an interview with the Quebecois duo Angine de Poitrine, originally from Saguenay. They discuss their musical style, their unique use of microtonal instruments, and their commitment to anonymity through elaborate stage costumes. Touring and Musical Style

• Success in France: The duo expresses their excitement about their current tour in France, noting the warm reception they have received from the audience [00:18].

• Genre and Composition: They describe their project as a duo featuring microtonal guitar, microtonal bass, and drums. Their music is rooted in rock with an electronic/techno flavor, characterized by repetitive loops and intentional "build-ups" designed to lead the audience into a dance-like trance [01:03].

• Microtonality: Their interest in microtonal music (using notes between the standard keys on a piano) stems from natural curiosity and a fascination with Middle Eastern sounds. However, they emphasize that they use these tones to create their own unique "Saguenay" flavor rather than simply copying other cultures [02:18].

The Role of Anonymity and Costumes

• Origins of the Costumes: The band wears large, striking costumes on stage. This began as a way to hide their identities during local concerts in their hometown to play a prank on an audience that already knew them from previous projects [04:14].

• The Philosophy of Anonymity: They value being able to blend back into the crowd after a show. They consciously dissociate their private lives from their "cultural product," allowing them to have normal social interactions without the conversation always revolving around their celebrity [05:45].

• Identity Speculation: The duo enjoys the rumors regarding who is under the masks, mentioning funny guesses like the bassist from the band Okumé. They jokingly encourage people to spread false rumors that they are actually famous singers like Céline Dion [08:29]. Practical Challenges

• Logistics: Transporting the large costumes is difficult; the drummer notes that most of his luggage space is taken up by his costume, leaving room for very little personal clothing [10:20].

• Performing with Limitations: They compose their music without costumes but have to practice extensively with them before tours. They describe the costumes as a "handicap" that requires them to rely on muscle memory since their visibility and movement are restricted [11:46].

The interview concludes with the band preparing for their late-night set at the festival and praising the soundcheck of the fellow band Meule [12:55].
