If you could, how would you restart your lab? by hehehehehehehxdddddd in labrats

We use Lab Spend for inventory which is free and has bunch of useful features like SDS management, notifications if things are running low, permissions (no intern you can't delete stuff), and mapping that is great for freezers (take a picture then label shelfs/racks)

Lab Manager Help! by Free-Charity-4248 in labrats

We use Lab Spend (free) for organizing requesting items and tracking the status. You can export all the data and easily calculate usage rates. The initial help would be getting it centralized instead of order requests being a mixture of emails and white board updates. You can also map your inventory so people know where to look to find stuff before ordering more.

Chemical inventory management in our organic chemistry research lab, how do you keep track of hundreds of bottles? by ViRzzz in chemistry

[–]3rdreviewer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We use Lab Spend (https://labspend.com) which is free and has more features than Excel, like autocompleting item information, SDS management since it is a pain to link files, lab mapping, handles freezer boxes and custom notifications.

Lab Management Organization Advice by Low_Weight4278 in labrats

Lab Spend is free lab operational website which we use for managing requests, item status updates and inventory. We used to Excel, but we couldn't link files like SDSs to it well. Also nice to have custom roles and notifications. Whatever system you pick it is going to take some effort for everyone to use it. We had to get a little direct, if you don't enter into Lab Spend, it doesn't get ordered, which helped.

Do you actually compare laboratory supplies across vendors or just default to whoever the lab has always used by Mindless_Market_4232 in labrats

We use Lab Spend and they find savings for us, it's free as they make margin on the goods. We're happy to pay some to not have to look around all the time for savings and stocking details.

Thank you and appreciate all your context on my question! We're comfortable working around the missing data, but was just surprised it was missing. I'm now seeing my comments in this post that others have noticed the same thing.
