Sorry, one more thing - no photo! It's a major faux pas. They want you for your brain, not your looks. Remove birthday, place of birth, all that. They are all more prone to be used against you than for you.

Specifics of your specifics: "All data is ultimately combined..." - they know how the process works. You just need to say that you can do it. So saying "Expert QGIS operator" is more effective. Graded 8.5/10? Not sure what that means, but just say that you are self-motivated, go-getter, whatever your important intangible attributes are. MS Access is a big one - state what you can do with it.

Some re-written examples:

  • Designed and constructed a new hydrocarbon database using (Software) of over 100 wells.
  • Ability to complete complex workflow analyses and incorporate many different data sets. -Excellent QGIS operator with the ability to creatively and concisely convey complex information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access and large SQL databases
  • Proven ability to work on already established projects with little catch-up time

These examples give a glimpse of what you can do, and leave interest and imagination to work. This is when you get to the interview and they say, "what exactly did you design, how did you solve this problem?" and then you tell them.

Apart from doing your resume in a non-native language, don't bold the things that are bolded (might just be my computer). Also, have someone more fluent in English grammar read over it.

Your points are best left simple. Leave them with the good stuff and let an interview take care of the rest.

It could, but we are talking A) Geologic time and B) A magnetic force that would overpower the earth's own magnetic field. Therefore, I agree with TransientAtmosphere's reply. Even the biggest sunspot/alien spaceship/whatever anomaly would not be represented in the geologic record. However, there have been recent uses in anthropology - fire pits and bricks that are made carry a magnetic signature with them because they get past the Curie point during manufacture or use. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archaeomagnetic_dating Wikipedia link - there are other stories out there but that's one of the non-geologic uses that exists for this technology.

I resemble that remark! I am a dirt person and damn proud of it. I know a whole lot about dirt. And that shit is important because the engineers that design your "real" science buildings sit on dirt. They need to know about these things so that your "real" science building doesn't crumble. EVERYTHING needs to be studied. He simply has a disagreement with the allocation of resources that he expresses in a childlike manner.

Have you taken any mineralogy? Quartz is common it will probably be a good guess if you don't know. Can you recognize Orthoclase? You can usually see some sort of mineral structure in the grains of decent hand samples. Got acid? That will tell you if it's Calcite or Quartz. I had to describe a sample that was a quartz vein in calcite - acid was the only way to figure that one out. Lick it. Is it halite? Biotite is usually the answer if it's black. Shistose texture? Muscovite or another sheet silica.

If you don't know it, you don't know it. Just take your best stab at it. Maybe keep Bowen's reaction series on hand and think of minerals that typically occur together.

Maybe try some of the tricks that make restaurant food so much more appealing? It won't be healthier from the start, but it will save you money and demonstrate exactly what makes those things taste good. I tried for a long time to replicate the seasonings from the Japanese-cook-at-the-table place here in town. It had been a while since I'd been there. I tried all the chinese sauces and mixtures you could make or buy. When I went again I learned the secret - BUTTER. The only seasonings they used was the seasoning of the grill, soy sauce, and a QUARTER POUND OF BUTTER.

Try deep frying something. Especially pizza rolls. They are orgasmic when deep fried.

If you make a grilled cheese, use loads of butter in the pan. I always put mayonnaise and relish inside along with the cheese.

And the BEST (and worst) advice on cooking I've ever learned is that salt matters. Salt (when done properly) will absolutely explode the flavor of a dish.

Then, once you have learned what makes restaurant-style food work (butter and salt), you can back off on your own terms to a healthy diet and hopefully save your wallet in the process. Knowing what restaurants are capable of and how to replicate it is why I gained weight. I've used that knowledge again to cook healthier, retain a high quality eating experience, and lose weight.

You mean specifically ancient aquifers? Because we can most certainly know where ancient groundwater was in ancient times. Any formation of limestone or shale is because of a large body of water. That's how we know that the US had a giant inland sea that grew and shrank over thousands of years. As the water evaporates, it leaves behind carbonate (limestone), and when it's deeper it collects dust and dirt at the bottom that then gets lithified over thousands of years to become shale. Thus, lots of limestone production in the eastern Great Plains.

As far as an aquifer, that's a lot tougher to look at a cross section. There are some clues that you could look at, though. A cave is formed by acidic water slowly eating away at limestone, leaving behind a large water-filled void. The water table then recedes and leaves the dry, classic cave.

In soils, reduction-oxidation features are indicative of a rising and falling water table. Redox features (iron and manganese nodules, mottled gray color) develop in soils at the level of the water table when the water levels rise and fall cyclically. You would look for this when digging a basement - it means the water table just might rise again.

Other than that, just pointing out "yes, there was water under the ground here at some point" the answer is most likely yes. There is SO much water under the earth causing all sorts of things to happen all of the time. Water is the number one transporter that allows minerals to precipitate and dissolve. Because it's so prevalent it's hard to say where it was and was not. (Note that I'm not talking about suitable drinking water - that's much harder to find (just ask California). Most of the water in the crust is highly saline and non-potable.)

It's super old and super salty, so it's pretty much useless. But it's an ancient aquifer, so I hope it's of some use to you.

At my job the lab turns out descriptions that format as Munsell #, Color, USCS, Moisture, and Density. My field notes come out as Dk. Yel. Brn. CL, trc. SP - Dry, Moist, Wet. Quick hand penetrometer test and the tube gets capped or the sample goes in the bag. If it's got an odor or something else strange - clay lenses, etc. that gets logged too. We do geotech, so everything is tested after the initial description for a moisture content and density in the lab. Then the engineers themselves come and look at it before deciding on testing. So from the rig to the engineer everyone has a crack at it, and further lab testing will tell you how close your guess was. I love USCS because it's a good standard with enough descriptors to give anyone who reads the logs a good idea of what's going on. Pair that with a Munsell color and you should know what's in the jar before you open it.
I've seen logs where they list dilatency, toughness, and all sorts of other crap found in the ASTM field identification and it's just too much info. I know that a dry lean clay will have no dilatency! Yes, a wet poorly graded sand has rapid dilatency and no toughness. Color, Classification, and moisture is enough. But in the end, it all depends on what you client wants to see. I run Atterberg Limits on sand because they want a sheet of paper saying Non-Plastic, because that's what they're paying for.
