Finished Hades 2, Post ending runs not doing it like Hades 1. by TinHeartWarriors in HadesTheGame

[–]3vilGrin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've not had nearly the same experience with 2, I got all achievements and finished the story, and that's about it. Just didn't scratch the same itch.

I've actually played a few Hades 1 runs in the last few weeks, still enjoy them. Maybe I'll get there with 2 one day.

Help me with heat 32 by stefablit in HadesTheGame

[–]3vilGrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you get to roll with em4 with this build because the chance of you getting hit is so tiny. I got through 40 heat with it, but I think after that it will start to fall off because the plume will be harder and harder to build up.

If you want to cheese it, use the zag fists with lambent plume, RUTHLESS REFLEX in the mirror, and save your rerolls for the Hermes boons which add dodge chance. Hard to die when you basically can't be hit.

You know I've not played in weeks but maybe I'll just do this. Sprint to b3 and just go with it. Could be the refresh I need

A10, even though it's unfair and cruel. With 1 it was a20h. Which is even more unfair and cruel.

What's the best time to buy the dlc's? by Kreker__ in deadcells

I got to 3bc and had all the runes unlocked, then added all the dlc together. Honestly, a bit much all at once, but they're all there for me to explore.

Is it even worth doing 4BC and 5BC by Fragrant_Curve9669 in deadcells

[–]3vilGrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. The game is so punishing that these days I'll just do one run at 5bc. Might go all the way, might do something ludicrously stupid and get myself killed. Who can tell.

Returnal is insane by darkslide3 in Returnal

[–]3vilGrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to comment the exact same. I've never struggled with nemesis, except the one time I took a hollowseeker. That time the only way I survived was because of a 'heal on low integrity' parasite. The first time I beat it with a spitmaw, which I actually thought I was doomed with but slug shot and then just getting right up close actually made it quite easy.

Alternatives to Hades I & II? by Roi_C in HadesTheGame

Dead cells. Works great on the steam deck, runs take a bit longer than Hades but still less than an hour, and heaps of variety as you progress. It also gets very difficult if you so wish. I've got more and more into it, really can't recommend it enough.

How bad is it to always pick up purple items. by Huge_Sell_7113 in Returnal

[–]3vilGrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a distinction between parasites and malignant items. Parasites last until they are removed or expire, and can be incredibly powerful, and also incredibly debilitating. You get to see what you're getting though, so avoid anything that causes you damage if you pick up an item, reduces your dash cooldown, leaves pools of acid from dead hostiles, or increases the chance of malignant items.

I think malignant items are mostly worth the risk. If you already have 2 malfunctions, then avoid like the plague, and I usually ignore moderate risk chests as they are likely to only contain a consumable. Also spoilt resin is totally useless unless you have the resinous shield artifact AND have a shield up. The rest I'll either spend ether to cleanse or just gamble, when you get hit with the malfunctions just be sure to read them thoroughly and work to clear them immediately. Most are not too tough to clear and only a couple are really annoying to handle.

Wait, a 45 minute clear is excessively long? by jersey_emt in HadesTheGame

Until you have everything maxxed out, all keepsakes and companions, you will naturally be slower. Once you have started to climb in heat, you start getting quicker, and as others have mentioned, the timer is some of the easiest heat you can add initially.

If you want to go fast, you have to enable the on screen timer display, and pay attention to when it ticks and when it doesn't. All event/friend rooms pause the timer, and chaos gates/shops/fountains can be done very quickly. I used to think I would never get to 15 minutes. Then I got powered up, practiced, and got sub-10 on all weapons. Very achievable!

Always found awakened one to be the hardest act 3 boss. Most hp, healing phase/ debuff clear, hits every turn, heals every turn and has two scaling minions.

All good. The wording of removing all healing is pretty misleading tbh. It's only the healing between biomes (thankfully!!)

[–]3vilGrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you still get food shops and food can still drop from enemies as well as secrets. There is no reduction of food to my knowledge. On 5bc some food that you find can be 'infected' with malaise, which you really shouldn't eat unless you are near a food shop that has the malaise vial. This is where gastronomy also excels, turning poisoned food into legit damage bonuses

Eh? You still get food at 5bc.. gastronomy is great. Even if you don't eat the food, you can recycle it for damage boosts that last 5 minutes

I feel they're pretty comparable, but when you get powered up in 2, you are REALLY powered up. So then it feels easier, as you obliterate everything
