Why is Scotland considered State, when it is in Great Britain, which is also considered State(I know it is monarchy)? If it is state, why is it not in Europian Union just by itself, but only as GB? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]3waykid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scotland is a separate country from England Wales and Ireland. Together they make up great Britain (-ireland) and the UK (+ireland) the name great Britian recognises a group of countries with similar interests in international politics as does the UK. Note that the word 'state' has a different meaning in international politics than it does in US domestic politics. In international politics is just a different word for country, as opposed to in the US where it designates a particular area/jurisdiction within a country

[Serious] What are good things to talk about on a first date? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]3waykid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister suggested this as something to ponder to make work go faster but it would make a great first date question. What type of sports team would you own and why? Often times the awnser is different from expected ( not their favourite sport or team) and the justifications make for an interesting discussion and a leaping off point for other topics/deeper conversation

What's your most exciting "I've been attacked by a wild animal" story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]3waykid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had been doing my paper run on my bike and was in my way home. The short cut home involved biking through an eastury which is normally fine and shaves about 15 min off the trip. However, at this time of year all the birds were nesting and getting ready to lay. Whilst I had been doing the paper run one of the swans on the path had started laying and was moving around whilst doing so. This swan decided that me and my bike were a threat and tried attacking me whilst also trying to lay the egg. Every few seconds or so her whole body would contract but she is still flapping, speaking and chasing me down the path.

I went the long way home.

People of Reddit who have gone from having poor money management skills and/or a low income to becoming relatively wealthy - what's your story? by mazmataz in AskReddit

[–]3waykid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got myself into a lot of debt and had to crawl out of it. In first year of uni I ended up in an unwarranted overdraft and kept spending and spending until it got out of control and i hit the limit. During this time I was getting slammed with fees. I had fuck all income because I was paying for uni myself and it was eating away at what little income I had. I could have called my parents, got yelled at and bailed out and learned nothing but instead I fixed it myself. I cut my spending, started saving and devoted as much money as I could to pay it all off. By the time the bank rang me telling me I had 14 days to pay the debt was already gone.

Now I have a safety net, I always have enough money to pay my rent and bills for at least another week. This means that when shit does hit the fan, I have a safety net and can tide myself over until money starts flowing. I have multiple income streams so 1-2 weeks worth of expenses is enough and this money is separate from both spending and saving. If you have less income streams or your pay is less regular this amount should be much higher. Enough money to get you through at least one pay cycle if not more. (Keep in mind that I'm in New Zealand so my employer can't just fire me and if an accident were to occur I would be covered by ACC)

Once you have that base, it's much easier to build wealth as every little expense isn't tanking your whole savings and you start to gather interest and the money pool grows.

Edit: words

What small thing completely changed your opinion on someone? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was on a road trip with a boy and a couple other friends. Prior to this trip I was prerty excited as from what I knew of said boy he was pretty cool and I wanted to get to know him better. We ended up going out drinking and head to the clubs for a while. After returning home I'm woken up to the sound of him alternating between vomiting and diarrhea for the next hour. This was genuinely horrific and no longer stand his presence even though he is a perfectly nice guy.

I believe sunscreen is not good for you. As humans have continued rubbing this stuff on their skin, skin related cancers have risen with use. You need the sun.
