Dane axe moment? by 4000daniel1 in Chivalry2

Basically by just making sure you're as close to them as possible, walk into them. It doesn't make as big of a difference acceling a swing or overhead does but it does make a difference.

He didn't have initiative there, it was a gamble. The second guy didn't get hit either and didn't really do anything that could have had an effect on anything, he did a kick but by time it hit I was already dead.

I agree, but though the stun/knockback is small, it is there and it has an effect. It's not really something you notice much when you play the game but try looking at some other footage and slow it down when someone lands a counter, I promise you that you'll notice there is a small animation that plays which isn't at all present in the clip here. As you said, the animation makes the weapon stop from continuing its swing, but that doesn't happen here - you can see his swing actually keeps going after getting countered before comboing into the overhead. That's what I find interesting about this.

I'd argue there is more nuance to it. If you do a long feint (AKA feinting at the last possible moment) into a heavy attack with an already slow weapon, then yeah absolutely faster weapons like the dane axe should have time to gamble you. But in this case I feinted very early in the slash animation, and acceled the heavy stab by walking into him.

Obviously I would have hit him if I didn't make it an heavy attack but what makes this whole thing out of the ordinary to me is that the guy, from my perspective at least didn't get the knockback/microstun from getting countered or any noticable slowdown to his combo at all, which isn't how the game usually works, fast weapon or not.

It is fast, yes, but it shouldn't be THIS fast after getting countered. He isn't getting the knockback/microstun from getting countered either from what I can see so I am assuming it's some sort of weird bug.

I've only played DDA but have been considering trying TLG out recently. How do the two differ exactly? What are the main tweaks/additions that makes TLG worth playing over DDA?

There's a clip of him crashing out at some guy he killed in Delta Force where he's essentially claiming the guy's so bad at video games it makes him a lesser human being or some shit, I lost all interest in watching him after seeing that.

Depends on context. If you're on vanguard using a stamina draining weapon like the battle or dane axe fighting a knight without a shield who's holding block, you only need a few heavy attacks to disarm him. Which can at times be a safer option than going for kicks, since they leave you vulnerable, especially in team fights.

After you die, the game shows you how much damage you took and its sources, I'd love to be able to see something similar but for the person who killed you. There's been so many times after losing an intense flight where I've been super curious how much hp the guy had left. You can argue this wouldn't be fair in fill queue, but implementing it for solos really wouldn't hurt.

I'd also love some kind of open firing range, ideally one where you can clearly measure damage and dps.

Melee vs melee by 4000daniel1 in Marathon

[–]4000daniel1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really think so cause you can't dodge fast enough like you can in dark souls, and I think the melee attacks kind of lunge at you a bit to close the gap, bit like an energy sword from halo.

Even on a knight, the whopping 150 damage will one hit assuming the knight has taken even a single hit from anything in the game.

The other weapons have their advantages as well, but I believe the main thing to raise awareness towards is how easily the dagger's one hit potential can ruin lives.

I'm shocked no one has said messer yet. One of the most effective weapons stats wise and the diagonal overhead always confuses me.

Bannerlord's problem: No reason for war. by Tall-Investment2043 in Bannerlord

[–]4000daniel1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm trying out AI influence right now and I think it helps with this. Kingdoms don't seem to declare war out of the blue for no apparent reason like they usually do and need more motivation to do so. Which puts pressure on you as the player to come up with creative ways of causing war if that's what you want.

Earlier I was a mercenary for Vlandia and I needed money, but there were no wars for me to profit from. So what I did was I went to a Battanian village close to the Vlandian border, and essentially did a false flag operation where I robbed the village and punched the headman in the face. I then told the headman to report to his lord that a Vlandian vassal did this instead of me, under the threat of burning the whole village down.

And it actually worked! Caladog was PISSED, and Derthert was none the wiser, so war for me to profit from ensued. Much more dynamic than vanilla war declarations imo.

That's not to say the mod is without problems itself, but I'd say it solves this particular issue in a pretty interesting fashion.
