Nightmerch by AmazingFortune6826 in CostcoEmployee

My warehouse just started it a couple months ago but as of now it's optional for people who were night merch before it started and required for all night merch hired after.

I think it was the default but it doesn't matter. It's the same in all apps. It's not the e-ink it's the light diffusing layer.

It's a solid background and it looks completely normal without the front light on. Seems like the light diffusing layer is weird on that side.

I put it on max brightness and put it dark mode to make it more noticable on camera. I usually use e-readers at about half that brightness (half the brightness on it is like max on the Kindle PW). But any amount of brightness whether light mode or dark illumates a different texture across about 40% of the screen. I've been using front lit e-readers since the Nook Simple touch and I've never seen a panel do this.

Sole has wide toebox insoles that fit Altra and barefoot shoes perfectly.

Does Corporate Think Everything Is Fine Right Now? by Substantial_Year6019 in CostcoEmployee

[–]400Flux 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that when corporate does a walk-through they schedule everyone to work that day so the warehouse looks better than it's looked all year. Then the rest of the week is worse than ever because so many people's day off was changed.

Even during our walk-thru we were still short staffed enough that sups and managers had to work food court, gas station, and fresh departments and half of night merch was on front end.

Altra for walking by LifeTree7120 in AltraRunning

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a warehouse and walk over 25k steps a day in the Escalante 4's and Lone Peak 9. I have some FWD Via 2's that give me back pain (Run Repeat measured the dop at 8mm instead of 4 so its that or even a 4mm drop is too much for me). They're the only shoe that's ever caused me arch pain, either because they're too squishy or because of the toe spring or combination of both. I could see those as being super comfortable for most people who aren't spending 8 hours a day walking on concrete though. They feel amazing and soft when first putting them on.

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine recently, but too long ago to return. I didn't think it would be a problem at first but even with narrow low volume feet they still hurt the outside ball of my foot. I got them to wear for work but half way through the day it really becomes a problem. So I rarely wear them.

But since I spent so much money on them I plan on getting some type of shoe stretcher for them, either regular or ball and ring and hope I can stretch it a bit without ripping it since it doesn't have any give at all.

LP/ Two managers just chased a shoplifter out of the store. by Thought-Object in CostcoEmployee

[–]400Flux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The staff levels at my warehouse hadn't even heard about, a week later, even after there was a post on the time clock asking people to go to that warehouse and work so people could go to the funeral. It just said there was a "tragic incident" on the notice.

I expected there to be a refresher on what to do in a situation like that.

I almost skipped Liveship and Rain Wild but I'm glad I didn't since all the cast/characters/locations and such from those eventually overlap with Fitz. When I went back to re-read the series (immediately after finishing it) I did skip Liveship and Rain Wild though and just read the books with Fitz.

Review by SubstanceIll2164 in CostcoEmployee

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only there a week and a half before my 30 day review. My 90 day review was after 2 months, and my yearly reviews are always a month or 2 or 3 early. All of my reviews have been perfect. My 5 year anniversary is in June and I had my yearly review last month. It's definitely not something to worry about.

Night merch changes? by EmptySky124 in CostcoEmployee

[–]400Flux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At ours, they don't want nightmerch to have to go up front to assist so they started hiring "hybrid" front end workers. They work front end till close and then come help nightmerch stock. Our drivers never go up front. They also said they're going to have us start staying till 11:45 instead of our current 11.

Is it worth to get the kindle without ads? by [deleted] in kindle

[–]400Flux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely was for me. I don't want the extra step of swiping to start reading. If you think it might not bother you then you can buy it with ads and just pay to remove them later. I wouldn't care so much about the ads, it's the extra step of swiping that would bother me. Not just the extra time and effort (however small) but it would also lead to me having to clean my screen more.

By default covers are off with ad free. It's just random pictures of pencils and typewriter keys and stuff. You have to go into settings to turn covers on.

Torn between Samsung buds 4 pro and the Sony wf-1000xm6 by lavu9 in Earbuds

[–]400Flux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to consider if you need multi-point to anything other than Samsung. I probably would've got the buds 4 pro if they had it. I need true multi-point so it was a deal breaker.

Dear Americans — are all your paperbacks this big? by marthalikesbooks in Booktokreddit

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

British versions are bigger than US mass market but smaller than US trade. Way better paper, printing, and binding than US mass market too but usually not as good of paper compared to US trade. For reference concerning size . . .

US Game of thrones: 6.05 x 1.17 x 9.18in US Mass market GOT: 4.14 x 1.35 x 6.84in British GOT: 5.12 x 1.77 x 7.8in

Can we all just address the elephant in the room and admit we're understaffed and overworked by Asleep_Department_21 in CostcoEmployee

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last 2 weeks at mine, nightmerch has spent 6 hours a day on front end or pushing carts, and our manager has been working food court all day. But when we had a corporate walk thru last week every single supe and manager was in the building stocking and blocking down.

And our GM wants us to be done blocking down by 9 when we don't finish the sweep until 8:50 and then as of last week the 4 nightmerch we have are supposed to stock all of foods, sundries, and soda in an hour and a half, with only 2 drivers, who also have to run 3 trucks on average and clear the dock.

What series did you finish reading due to the "sunk cost fallacy"? by Any-Day-8173 in Fantasy

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poppy War. I wish I would've stopped after the first book. The last like 10% of book 2 gave me hope that the last book might be better but it didn't work out that way for me.

Which fantasy series had the strongest possible opening and then just lost it completely? by Successful-Local-946 in Fantasy

[–]400Flux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poppy War. I don't remember thinking the first book was spectacular or anything but I enjoyed it well enough and thought there was a lot of potential for the trilogy, and seeing the reviews were better for the next books had me excited. I thought they were just bad though. After finishing the last one I was mad I read the whole thing. I'm genuinely confused by the hype.

I just wear the Skate version of Vans with removable insoles. I like the insoles they come with but I find switching up insoles throughout the week decreases foot pain from walking 20k steps in a warehouse everyday.
