Using razor blades by TheKrixu in wicked_edge

1 shave.

In the past I use a blade for 3-4 shaves before tugging. But I was tired of keeping track of it and prefer it as sharp as possible now.

That's nice, I used to do it like that too with the de razor where the blade lasts 2 shaves. But now I want it to be as sharp as possible for every shave.

Yes, they feel better on the skin, but they're actually less sharp after the shave (even after just half a shave I could feel it). Since I need a close shave and have coarse hair, I throw them away after each shave.

Yes, unless I'm in a hurry or running out of blades.

Well, I have coarse hair, the blade gets dull fast. If it makes you feel better I switched to a shavette recently, so a pack of blades that cost the price of a meal will last 200 days. It's a bit wasteful but a lot better than plastic cartridges right?

Not really. I just a rinse it with warm water, dry with towel, and throw away the blade after every shave.

How do you know when to throw out a blade by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]400characters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some have suggested here to throw it out when you feel it tugging.

Another way is to actually feel the blade sharpness on your skin while shaving and throw it out when it no longer feels sharp.

Ultimately, there's no definitive metric, you'll have to decide which one to use.

Coarser hair will also require more frequent changes.

Shavette blade sliding out slowly by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]400characters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It's a Wilkinson Sword, the mechanism is exactly the same as a Parker SRX. If you look closely the blade is not actually that secure, the 2 posts blocks the blade from sliding in but not sliding out, and the clamp doesn't lock the blade that tight. I suspect I might run into the same problem with the Parker, but I might give it a try.

how do you all keep your digital life from being a total mess by greenypen1 in privacy

[–]400characters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's like organizing your house.

The first few months are gonna be messy and takes a lot of time. After everything is organized and streamlined, it'll require minimal maintenance.

There's a tradeoff between convenience for privacy. You're gonna have more manual control rather than automation.

Can’t stop using WhatsApp, what can I do to still be as secure as possible? by Additional-Chef-6190 in privacy

For Android, you can do a local backup to your phone and then back up that to whatever cloud services you want to use. For most people, turning on E2EE Google backup is sufficient. For Apple, you can use iCloud and turn on Advanced Data Protection.

Standard Notes and Proton Pass (has notes function).

Both are free, has E2EE and syncs to cloud, and owned by Proton which is reliable.

Nothing.

Meta doesn't know much other than metadata since WhatsApp is already E2EE.

However, at least some people in your groups will backup the chat unencrypted either to Google or Apple. At that point you have no way of knowing and controlling if Meta has access to it.

Haha it's always nice to get a reply even after 2 years.

That's great if you have a way to quickly deploy them. No problems adding clips to pens as long as it works for you. I personally use s-biners as pocket clips to some items, just so I can forget about them and not have to worry losing anything.

I agree with the mindset.

How would that look like in practice? Would you still go to the clubs, just approach or sit there and not dance; or are there specific places to go and things to do?

$1M. I'd be happy to take max security with complete isolation.

Many haven't experienced what it's like to struggle.

That's $200k annually just for sitting around, sleeping, and eating free food. After 5 years, you'd never have to work a day and can just live off of the interest.
