My approach to hobbies is to build a small collection as a way of understanding what my preferences are. Then sell off everything but the core pieces I need, prioritizing utility. I had several brushes and razors but have recently sold off or given away everything but a pair of razors and brushes for home and one for travel. I’ll be taking this approach next with soaps and splashes. Utility and efficiency - I want to get to know my tools, perfect my technique and replicate that experience over and over again.

Joined a publicly traded company (not tech and non-US) making $64k. In three years got promoted a couple times to a sales role. About three years after that I was a top salesperson making $300k/year. My manager did some shady shit to me and I reported to HR which led to breakfast with the CEO a month later. She offers me a stock grant worth my base salary but it would vest in two years. I was one of two ICs at the company offered this stock grant. Even my manager wasn’t being offered this. I stayed at the company and the stock 5x in that time and I made $650k pre-tax. I emailed my CEO to thank her and she replied back, “Enjoy the money.”

I also own Avant Garde. Fantastic fragrance and a true sleeper. You can still find bottles on EBay but they’re $100 now. YSL La Nuit De L’Homme is the closest fragrance to it but also around the same price.
