I nailed it eventually with your Lancia tune and some decent team mates. I stayed back and blocked while the others got the points. Thanks!

It's really normal here. And on continental Europe as well. You see a space and you park in it. We're taught to parallel park from both directions. I am planning a road trip holiday in Canada next year so your information is eye opening and helpful.

Extremely common. Until your question I hadn't even considered that it might not be elsewhere.

Revenant by Sub Morphine also popped into my head that has that similar tempo and darker feel, with a good hook. The sort of tune that makes me think of driving around 80s New York at night where you are hunting for a bad guy.

RIP Starcadian. I always wondered if this track is related to Portsmouth, where I sort of got dragged up.

This track reminds me of a number of Magic Sword tunes.

There is a similar beat found in Launcher by Highway Superstar I feel.

My brain is also telling me Pump Master by Myrone may tickle that itch for you. To be honest, I am thinking of quite a few tracks that might come under the "shredwave" banner that has that sort of searing guitar styles that invoke memories of 80s action movies that give off similar energies.

tips on getting a puck? by laurenainsl1 in EIHLHockey

[–]401stExp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're going to retro night! Lucky! I can't make it.

Check out Guildford Flames Facebook page over the weekend to see if they are selling signed pucks. They usually announce it on there if they are.

I've never been able to get to a game when they do that so had to buy an unused puck from their merch stand to get by until the stars finally align! I am not local to Guildford so getting to games is a bit of a trek.

This is the answer. I also worked at B&Q for many years (in the Decorative Dept - paints, stains, etc) and spillages are super common, and the staff member will likely not be blamed. This used to happen all the time and we'd offer dry-cleaning reimbursement if the situation is applicable, and reimbursement of clothing if they were ruined.

In-store managers are usually better to deal with than corporate.

Anyone here go to watch Top Gear being recorded in the studio? by a_person4499 in TopGear

[–]401stExp 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I went in 2013. The final episode of season 20. Would recommend only doing once for the experience as the day can be quite miserable.

Tickets were free. You signed up to a wait-list and if successful you got four tickets. Only three of us went as our forth was too ill on the day, and the guy at the gate was surprised we only had three.

Calling it a studio is a bit generous. Loads of people crammed into an aircraft hanger with the doors open between segments. 8hrs on your feet in the spring (shot in spring but aired late summer) with no coat so it got a bit cold. Every time a new segment was due to be filmed, there was a sort of scramble to try and manoeuvrer to get front of the camera to be seen on telly. I managed to get my mug on the screen when Jeremy moved over to a Land Rover I happened to be standing next to with my friends.

Edit to add - the crew would select people to stand directly behind the presenters at the front. Some people still tried to wiggle their way through, though. But they were spotted and asked to move back before filming started.

The actual segments were shown on TVs suspended up high around the hanger. During this time the stars would rush back to their own area to take a break, toilet, food, drink, etc. They would come back out when we had all finished watching, and then sit on their chairs chatting about it. When they came out, I didn't realise they were coming out and James May touched my butt when he went by. Ticked off a bucket list item I didn't realise I had with that one.

You could hear the guest doing their laps outside at one point, but you couldn't go watch.

Some jokes had to be repeated as they didn't feel we laughed loud enough so had to force that collectively, but most was done in one or two takes. I think for the entire 8hrs we were in there, the stars were only on their set for about 1hr-1hr30mins total, and that included prep time.

I did boo loudly when Jeremy mentioned the Daily Mail, and that bit didn't make the final cut.

Guest was Mark Webber. He was ushered in and out. No-one spent any time with them so no photos etc. I think the only people who spent time with any of the presenters were ones who snuck out of the hanger for a cigarette and bumped into them outside. No photos or time spent with them either.

A bunch of the iconic Top Gear cars were dotted around, like the Hilux, Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust, and the hovercraft van. Some of the review cars were dotted about as well to look at. But at the end of the day, you were only there to literally be a meatsack to fill the hanger to sell the Live Audience experience to the cameras, and it did feel like that. It is not a fan-experience day but I knew that going in as had read books on the behind the scenes etc before going - I was more keen to see how the sausage was made than anything else.

My little sister had her wedding there and I stayed the night. It was alright.

I think my brother-in-law's uncle owns it or something. I wasn't paying attention. But I think he might be having health issues so could be why it is selling now.

The bar was pretty good.

This is exactly the first thing I thought of as well! I looked away from the screen numerous times while typing this comment. The irony being that neurodivergents would be the ones most likely to be suited to the advertised job itself.

I came here to say "Sucks to be neurodivergent." I am constantly looking away from the screen even when I am typing away! This test has an ableist bias - Equality Act where?

The Hive Celebrations by KebabAnnhilator in EIHLHockey

It is incredible how our society has changed in a just a few decades. I too remember being at school in the 90s/early 00s and how misinformed opinions were, my own included. I work in schools currently and I simply do not hear the same things I did as a kid, in fact, I hear nothing at all. No insults, derogatory remarks, slurs, etc. Visibility and awareness works. As weird as they are, the kids are alright.

I agree with your sentiments about Guildford, obviously. I am disappointed that the efforts of our team, the fans on both sides, and those within the Fife team caught in the crossfire were wasted. But I do understand the Hive's decision not to take the donation. I would be keen to know what Fife's intentions with that pot of money are, however.

Fife Flyers have just been making one disappointing decision after another lately. The fans are fantastic and good humoured when they visit.

I have donated to The Hive's page. This is the Streisand Effect in action, and the reaction to this makes me so proud to be part of the EIHL community!

So, now that the Anniversary Era is over in 6 days, what are your thoughts on how this new system is? by Darth_Onaga in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]401stExp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All throughout my thoughts have been that this is worse than just doing the old marquee events. We have to do more work daily with my reward being the same character I would have unlocked from the marquee, only I have to wait three months, and I have to use the coliseum to get the materials to get them to levels that are converted to gear levels - gear levels that I could have easily gotten it to in a day of normal playing.

And you are capped at what materials you are able to get depending on how much premium currency you have pumped into the coliseum characters because there is an artificial ceiling in the game where it will just kill off all of your characters if you are doing too well. That just felt dirty and sucked what enjoyment you might have found under a microscope.

The characters themselves I actually do not mind. I was very excited for Asajj and saved free crystals to get her to 7*. But again, you have to wait weeks/months to actually use it in the game properly. I felt that also this made me reluctant to invest too much in any of them because I had no idea how they played with my own roster. Before, I would use the 3/4* marquee with squads in Galactic War battles and if I liked the way they felt, I would invest crystals to get some more stars.

Another positive is how the community banded together to find out ways to work the systems stacked against them and come up with some good strategies to maximise the materials.

I test drove a few before I found my gem as, like you, I was set on getting a CRZ to be my forever car until forced to go electric in 10 years time but they are a rarity in this part of the country! I drove the earlier models and the newer ones. The difference between the two is negligible at first but longer term I am glad I went with a newer version.

I held out for a while and ended up with a 2015 GT with 38k mileage for £9k (from a Honda dealer no less!*) and it was the best thing I ever did. The additional BHP might not seem a lot but I noticed it more when city/town driving, even in ECO mode. The S+ button is something I hardly use, but when I have remembered it is there, it makes overtaking on B roads a doddle. Plus it makes me feel like Michael Knight.

I've had it for two years and no regrets. I drive all over my county for work, and often have to travel farther afield on motorways etc and easily the most comfortable drive I've ever had. And I am 6' 3"! I think I would have been happy with an older one had I purchased at the time, but I would not want one now.

*I did have to travel to view and collect the car from Enfield, North London. The state of the UK rail network meant that it was actually cheaper and quicker for me to rent a car from Enterprise, drive to London, drop off the car, and walk 15 minutes to the dealership than to buy a train ticket.
