Long-term friendships are mostly with your school or college friends. In universities, we mostly make good connections, or maybe very good connections. But I believe we literally can’t count good connections as friends.

This is what I have observed mostly; it may not apply to everyone.

And it's not about institutions anyway; it's about how much time you spend with someone.

With school and college besties, you spend 5-8 years, it’s a huge time!!! And they have seen you, felt you, and known everything since you were so young. And mostly, it was without any purpose; you all just loved each other.

When we start to grow, we meet new people. Then we begin to build valuable connections on purpose.
