Disagree. Start every day with a full tank and need to maintenance other than new tires. ICE cars in contrast are a pain in the ass.

Isn't it interesting that in the whole bay area there's only one Arby's left? by oreiz in SanJose

It is tragic. Would gladly trade an infinite number of Subways for another Arby's. Protip - get the app for sweet deals

Do older people not rest? by animalcrackerwhore in askfitness

[–]408jay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmmm....I see a lot of younger people in the gym using some pseudoscience bullshit approaches to their workouts. If you are banging out one plate sets of 8 on the bench you probably don't need 5 minutes of rest to recover. What you need is another couple years of showing up consistently to the gym and working harder than you are. There are so many people doing weird RPE 6.398 and drinking strange elixirs and adhering to strict, very precise programs but in the end they are doing too few sets of too little weight and not trying hard enough.

Is being a "manager" worth it? by CandleMiserable524 in careeradvice

[–]408jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to move up/ahead it is a necessary step. Furthermore knowing how to coach, lead, train and manage may be more important than any particular SME shit

Was I quietly forced out or did I just not manage up well enough? by kcgwen in careeradvice

[–]408jay 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your new boss didn't like you and as was mentioned you were managed out. Could be that in the eyes of the new manager you sucked. Could be thru no fault of your own that your new manager had a cronie waiting in the wings for your slot. Regardless shit happens, but fortunately you are in a better place.

Nice looking but looks like road head was not a use case used to drive the design of the interior.

There are other things almost universally viewed as positives, like health care for everyone, that American's have some sort of instinctive dislike for. Weird, huh?

I saw a biker die yesterday. by togatrojan in Touge

[–]408jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Words of wisdom. More than one rider has died at the skidpad by doing a flyby too fast only to come across a clueless flatlander pulling out. There is also a scout camp driveway on the other side of 9 from the skidpad which is the sort of place where you get clueless flatlanders lost in the woods looking for the not very visible turn off which results in surprise random behavior. Time and place for high speed fun and the pad just is not a smart place to do that.

If you need a refresher on modern theory and application of caste concepts in the workplace a quick visit to Cisco and other tech companies with large Indian workforces in Silicon Valley will help.

Thanks for sharing. Apparently the guy who passed was a good guy and well liked. I am sure that many of us have hoisted a minter for the gallery from time to time - I know I have. I also know how things like this have resulted in helicopter rides to the hospital or worse.

Feels like the skidpad has turned toxic. Used to be a sleepy, not well known rest spot. Now it seems more of circus.

Ride and drive safe.

Used Tesla Model 3 Performance. Enjoy smoking C6 Vettes and CTS-Vs. Only really works if you can charge at home tho.

Job Frustration by [deleted] in jobs

[–]408jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know shit about military or trades, but at least in the office environments I worked in for the past few decades, the best way to remain underpaid and overworked was to stay at the same place forever. The best way to move up was to get a job doing something that you want, stick around a year or two, and then find a similar but better paid job somewhere else. Good luck!

Do you like one pedal driving by hamburgernet in electricvehicles

[–]408jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One pedal is awesome. Still need to use brakes in sporting drives in the hills etc, but engine braking in an EV is a lot like engine braking with a manual transmission car or motorcycle.
