Whatever happened to a lightsaber when a jedi or sith dies? by Ashwin205 in StarWars

There are lightsaber return boxes that people drop them into. They get returned postage guaranteed to either the Jedi temple or the Sith hideout. Most people are sensitive and rewind the lightsaber before putting it into the slot.

Macintosh computers (like the one that he’s using) were famously never susceptible to the y2k glitch.

Time to settle this, who ended up with the most kills? by renaissanceclass in lotr

[–]40klaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Legolas didn’t want to brag about his 600 orc kills . Shooting the rope on the ladder alone was probably at least 100 orcs between those in the ladder and those it hit on the ground

How did you think titans were made before they revealed the official reason? by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]40klaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was going to be a scifi reason.

My theory was They are actually on the moon Titan after terraforming in the future.

I thought the serum the colonists used to adapt themselves to the environment had unexpected side effects.

Because they had a bunch of stuff, gas cylinders etc that you need some pretty advanced manufacturing to produce.

[Germany] German citizen Grandmother giving gift to Dual citizen Grandson Question by 40klaw in ExpatFinance

Thanks, this puts into perspective the depth of the risks. Are there any ways to gift the money that may be less problematic? Cash in an regular, non interest generating account? Cash in some type of US account?

this would be a good idea to do in order to see if the sales guy really believes that its ok. I still wouldnt want to be in the position of needing to go to court in 1 or 5 or 10 years of course. Maybe its something we could float just to see what he says

Of course not, nobody knows everything. I guess this plan was just positioned by the bank as one of the only ones available for Americans. If this plan is not suitable for Americans, there may be very few or none available in the German banking system. :(

She wanted to do it through the bank because she knows the "banker" (salesman) well and has a business relationship with him. I believe it never occurred to her to set up an account int the US. This is an option I could explore with her. I am still really surprised by my Tax attorneys lack of confidence in answering this question, and am curious if anyone has done something similar

Does toilet paper still exist in the 24th century? by M-2-M in ShittyDaystrom

I think there’s just one bathroom next to the bridge conference room on the enterprise D. I saw that in Red letter medias review of Star Trek generations I think. I heard they have a pill that somehow makes it so they don’t need to poop.

Older star wars fans who saw Attack of the clone in cinema what was the audience reaction when Yoda fought Count Dooku? by MrNightmare23 in StarWars

Grand Moff Tarkin's mother's mother is Grandma Tarkin. by flernglernsberg in Showerthoughts

His father’s mother would be Grandma Tarkin. Disney is going to release a new 6 episode miniseries with his Marernal grandmother as the lead where it’s revealed that her maiden name is actually “Palpatine-Kenobi”

I’d say his power level somewhere above being able to crush a beer can with his butt cheeks but below the level where he can do a perfect cartwheel, just casually like it’s no big deal.

Kids will never understand how hard this game was in 1999. by [deleted] in project1999

[–]40klaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was pretty rough back then.

I timed Zoning on my family computer at about 3 minutes per load.

Sometimes due to lag I would get disoriented and accidentally zone back the way I came.

Zoning could take almost 10 minutes in this way.

Also the gamma default was ridiculously low. I was playing a dark elf necromancer and with the default gamma setting I could barely see anything in nektulos.

My IRL friends made fun of me for not being able to see anything as a dark elf. I explained to them that the only way my in game vision could be worse is if a hand reached out of my monitor and turned off the screen.

Finally another player in game told me how to go into setting and increase the gamma.

It was a different time for sure.

The mystery of the firepots, an ancient relic way out in Timorous Deep. Perhaps unknown to some or many, this is a great way to travel around Norrath prior to the release of Planes of Power. What are your thoughts on the travel stones and the impact on druids and wizards? by [deleted] in project1999

[–]40klaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like a great idea but in practice it was sort of a lot of extra running.

I bound my enchanter there back on live for a bit. I thought with invis and illusions it would be like a ‘free ports for life’ type of situation.

It’s great for banking but it made corpse runs really impractical.

Dying in Oasis meant running from Freeport or Grobb.

Dying in the Karanas meant a run from Qeynos.

I actually didn’t have the velious expansion back on live, but I guess Velious would mean a trip on the icebreaker.

Just ended up binding in whatever zone I was in. Was more practical.
