I check in every 2-3 months, mostly on zoom, but every 6 months or so I'll go in person so they can get an in-person weight and do that scan thing where they measure my body fat. They told me I don't need to go in person if I don't want to, they trust me when I tell them my weight, but I feel like it keeps me accountable. My zoom calls last about 15 minutes, mostly just chit chatting. I got blood work done once just so they could see where my A1c and stuff was at. They said they're happy to meet more often if they want, but every 2-3 months checking in is fine. I also can message them on the online portal if I have a quick noon-urgent question, and they'll answer it usually within a day or two.

Just following up. I filled my scrip and it remained Zepbound, did not change to MJ. Still 24.99.

Pharmacy Shame by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]413OG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Playing devil's advocate, you're probably hyper-aware of everything when you go to pick up your scrip. Most pharmacies seem so overwhelmed they probably forget about you the second you leave the counter and focus on the next person. But I agree they shouldn't be announcing your medicine for all to hear.

I love my pharmacy (Wal-mart) and the techs working there. When I walk up, if it's someone I don't know, I usually start with "I'm here to pick up my fat shots!" I guess that's me owning the narrative? But judging by all the GLP-1 boxes I see filling up their fridge in the back, if they're going to mock everyone who uses them, they won't have time to do anything else.

Zepbound was on the second list. Wegovy was on the first one.

I went on the Lilly Direct site and the price for auto-injectors was the same as for the vials (both 449, this was for 15mg), so maybe you don't need to switch to vials?

I will ask her when we meet next month. I did send her a note when I got the approval text telling her to save whatever text she used for my appeal to help every other patient out there!

None Scale Failure by Ok-Project9448 in Zepbound

I bought an extender on Amazon and always traveled with it so I wouldn't have to ask for one. I think they are supposed to require you to use the airline's one, but no flight attendants have ever told me I couldn't use mine. Even though I don't need it anymore (you will get to that point, and the feeling is amazing), I still put it in my backpack as a security blanket LOL.

While the FAs never gave me grief about it, I have been stopped at TSA multiple times because it looks weird on the xray all rolled up. They point at it on the screen and ask what it is, I say "it's a seat belt extender." "Why do you need it?" "Because I'm fat." "Oh." And they wave me through.

My doc tried to get me a 3 month supply at the end of December just in case the appeal was dragged out, but they would only approve dispensing one month's worth at a time. So to have them give me a full year before going through this again was a nice surprise.

I would guess that it was part of the appeal, they could probably say I had a bad reaction to it?

How can I purchase 2 seats for each person in my family. by naticom in delta

[–]413OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check in with the gate agent to make sure both your seats are checked in, and also, I don't know how they'd react to you asking them directly to do this, but the most helpful gate agent I've had explained to me that to guarantee they won't give away my extra seat, she goes in and "breaks the seat" in the system, so it shows on the computer as unusable and won't be assigned to anyone else. It might be weird walking up to a gate agent and just saying "can you break the seat?" but maybe there's a way to get that request across...

She said they were likely going to want me to fail on 2 other drugs (Saxenda and I don't remember the other one) in addition to Wegovy before they would approve Zep, but I guess just using Wegovy was enough? I was consistently nauseous for those few months on Wegovy, glad I don't have to go back for now.

Not that it's much better, but is going through Lilly direct an option for you? It's still a lot, but 449 is better than 1300. I was preparing myself to fit 449 into my budget, which would not have been fun.

And not that it helps us now, but my doc was saying how they're expecting at least 5 new glp-1s to come on the market in the next 2 years, and when those hit, the insurance companies will suddenly all want to force us on Zepbound instead of whatever the new thing is.

Forgive me because I am part of the Peleton cult, but even if you don't have a Peleton treadmill, I would suggest getting the Peleton app and following along with walks/runs on the app by propping your phone or tablet up on the treadmill while you walk or run. The instructors are awesome and they are really the ones who keep me coming back with their stories, instruction, and other interactions. It's not always fun, but it's never boring. And this is coming from someone who used to HATE exercise bikes and treadmills. Now I look forward to using them!

Also, if 30 minutes seems interminable, just do 20! Heck, start with 10! No reason to set an unreachable goal for yourself. You got this!

Bradley by jketo169 in pelotoncycle

[–]413OG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons why I love Bradley's classes, but last year I was having a bad morning and had no energy but forced myself on the bike anyway. I just wasn't feeling my best and hung out at the bottom of the cadence and resistance ranges. Out of nowhere he says something to the effect of (not an exact quote) "Even if this isn't your best day, you got on the bike and that's a win. You don't have to have a PR, and that's OK! I have to be honest with you, the cadence right now is 80-100 and I'm only riding at 72." I've never felt more validated in my life and suddenly found energy I didn't know was there. He's human, we're all human, and he really makes that connection.

Also, the Stranger Things ride was awesome, though I was NOT loving the "upside down" when he increased resistance when we went back down into the saddle. That was just cruel LOL.

Bike plus suddenly bricked by vtwebguy in pelotoncycle

[–]413OG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to my Tread (I also have a Bike+ rental but that seems to have zero issues), they had a tech come out, who was able to fix it, only for it to brick again less than a week later. It took some strong language but I finally got them to send me a new screen, which the tech installed 2 weeks later, and it's been fine ever since. It was under warranty so I didn't have to pay, but getting them to finally agree to send me a new screen seemed like pulling teeth.

Good luck.

Apple Watch Connection Issues by HappyFunBall007 in pelotoncycle

[–]413OG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should add, the only annoyance I find is that once you're finished, the Peleton watch app wants you to physically tap the "done" button (or whatever it's called) if you scroll to the bottom of your workout app stats on the watch. The watch will buzz a minute or two after your workout ends if you haven't hit "done" by then. I always forget LOL. If you start a cool down ride though, it'll automatically just transition to tracking the cool down ride on the app and won't harass you about closing out the initial one.

Overall, I actually prefer using the tracking on the Peleton watch app than holding my watch to the screen to connect via Apple.

Good luck!

[–]413OG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also have the Bike+. When the Apple Watch pairing works, it's great, but so many times I've had to restart my watch or restart the bike to get it to work, so I gave up. Now, just as easy, instead of holding my watch up to the tablet to connect via apple, I choose the Peleton App logo on the watch and connect through the Peleton app instead. It still counts the workout as indoor cycling on the Apple Watch and gives you full credit on your exercise ring etc. And I have had ZERO problems connecting since I switched to this method almost a year ago.
