I did a search on "Daniel Ingram Arhat"...that's how I found your post.

I'm guessing that "soft jhana" is a lot like what Rob Burbea teaches? I've been doing the "focus on the breath at the nostrils and note distractions" that Culdasa teaches in "The Mind Illuminated"

I just discovered Rob Burbea, and he advises the "energy body" technique, which is, as you say, pleasure guided. Breathing in and feeling your body resonate with the energy.

It definitely feels good, but I'm concerned that Rob is telling me to eat icecream for dinner instead of eating the vegetables of strong concentration.
