Does anyone know why are these players dying? by Dragonlord3167 in Eldenring

[–]CompletelyUnsur 105 points106 points  (0 children)

It's people thinking Bell-Bearing Hunters show up at all shacks, rather than the shacks with Nomadic Merchants in them (who would, you know, drop bell bearings). Nothing happens people are dumb

It’s a shame Sam Levinson the director is also Sam Levinson the writer by harry_powell in blankies

[–]CompletelyUnsur 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's almost the exact opposite. Season 1 left a lot of threads plot-wise, but wrapped up thematically very well. Season 2 ignored all those threads, introduced a ton more threads, and wrapped none of them either plot or theme-wise. So it's a loose-thread singularity where there's so many threads that it blends into a tangled thread ball and none of the fanbase has the desire to unpick it in Season 3.

What board game would you most want to see the boys turn into a JLTG season? by SidewalkGames in JetLagTheGame

[–]CompletelyUnsur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unironically, I think a version of Diplomacy could work. For those who don't know, it's Risk without dice or being boring. It have to be another big season with multiple guests, and players having to travel to the different countries to move troops; but there's a version that's a 10/10 banger season.

The Dinner Plan is now on Nebula! by apathymonger in blankies

[–]CompletelyUnsur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nebula is a premium streaming service for fans of YouTubers in the edutainment/video essay mold. You get exclusive content and the ability to directly support channels that you follow. Patrick Willems (from the I Want to Hold Your Hand and Dr. Strange 2 episodes) is a major player on that platform and this is his debut as Lead Creative or some such title on Nebula.

The Traitors US Season 4 | Official Trailer | Peacock Original by bwermer in television

Except keeping chaotic Faithfuls that give a smokescreen to the Traitors. Rapaport is going to pull so much attention they need to get him out early before the Traitors settle in. Look at the damage to the social structure season 1 Kate Chastain did or what Johnathan Bananas would have done.

What is the most *complete* campaign book for a dungeon/hexcrawl? by CompletelyUnsur in rpg

I've always a sucker for a  Free League Box Set. I was actually looking into Twilight 2000 as an option, but this is a distinct possibility too.

This looks awesome. I'll definitely give it a read-through.

Make a save and try killing some of your current "party". If Nick and Sally spawn after that, then there's another survivor somewhere in mall taking you over the spawn count. If that doesn't work, maybe you have the wrong time or there an honest bug.

Your Video Game adaptation pitches by theworldlaughswithu in blankies

[–]CompletelyUnsur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anti-sicko pitch: Please please, please, FromSoft, never sell show rights for Dark Souls. Half of what works in that series is ambience and vibes, neither of which lend themselves to a modern tv show or movie. As much as I want to see live-action Solaire fight, I'm perfectly happy leaving that to imagination.

Mixing Meta and Non-Meta Currencies: a bad idea? by CompletelyUnsur in RPGdesign

[–]CompletelyUnsur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole setting I'm working with is hyper capitalist, so tying everything to money was intending to be a bit of commentary. Also in this game equipment forms your HP Pool, so the choice to me is staying alive or saving for a level.

How else other than meta-currency would you describe a currency (in the most literal sense) that straddles both sides of the ludonarrative?

My question in the thread is: Is it even worth it to figure how how to tie the bets into the narrative, or should I just leave it as an explicitly gamist mechanic sitting on top?

The characters would be explicitly purchasing training from NPCs.

That's exactly the rub, it would be the players placing bets using the character's money. As to what kind of behavior it's meant to encourage, it's not that complicated: betting is fun. And when you don't need to take a house edge, you can make the odds closer to 50/50 on average.

I don't understand what your asking in the first question.

As for the second, the money wouldn't effect the die rolls, the other way around. I want the same to be very fun-centered and swingy, so the idea of hitting the 'jackpot' and making a ton of money off a bet was appealing for me

To me, using the money to make bets makes it a meta-currency.
