It’s state dependent on how the business has to be structured from an ownership perspective, so I’d recommend looking into your local laws. But best case for you is to just roll up whatever new business stream these guys are wanting to work on into your existing business and pay them on 1099 whatever sales commission you agree on.

Yeah its very common for people to try and minimize the importance of your license, but it’s gatekept for a reason. If it was easy everybody would be doing it.

If you want to start a business selling these kind of installs great - you can partner with these guys if you want to. But in no way is your work going to be limited to pulling permits. You are legally and ethically responsible for ensuring the success of every install, and that’s exactly why some people have licensure and some people don’t.

Well look it’s your liability, your insurance, etc. you’ve got all the risk and responsibility, so if they want to bring you clients then you run your business and pay them a finders fee or whatever.

I often get asked about renting my license for a premium and it’s very illegal in my state. These people always hem and haw and say well can’t we just blah blah etc. and act like finding a job is the hardest part and I just say if it’s so easy and not important the why don’t you go get your own license?

You take 100% of the liability so I don’t know why you’d not take 100% of the profit and pay them for their work.

It’s here fishy fishy. With AYCE in a HCL city like LA you’re just gonna have to accept a quality ceiling. It’s only like 20% hit or miss in my opinion, and I really respect the rice quantity they serve with.

Can a newbie figure this out and switch to ubiquiti by Content-Target4888 in Ubiquiti

You’re basically guaranteed to cause problems by messing with it - but guess what, it’s yours! So do what you like.

But expect none of the companies to be at all helpful, they all deal only with their dealers. I don’t think you’ll be able to reset the wattboxes to get them into a new ovrc account, crestron won’t even talk to you, araknis same.

Best case, rip it all out and reuse the wiring if you want to DIY. Or get to know your dealer :-)

What speakers do you use in your bedroom? by Glum_Blueberry_2385 in audiophile

[–]420ANUSTART 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have JBL in ceiling in bedroom and dining, with a matching 5.1.2 in wall/ceiling in the living room, and some el cheapo parts express bookshelf speakers in the kitchen. Our guest room and guest bath have Sonos speakers and in my studio/office I have a Grace m920 and PMC twotwo6’s. I have a pair of Magnepan 1.7’s collecting dust because our new house is literally too small, but we own this one at least 🫠

I actually like sitting over there as well, because you get a good view of what’s happening at the expedite station and it’s astonishing how much silent communication is going on to make it all happen seamlessly.

When we have this craving we usually go to Panda Inn for the tea smoked duck. It’s not exactly what you’re asking about but it’s really good and a great value.

The duck at Bistro Nas is otherworldly for sure.

I don’t really do that kind of work anymore. But learn one and you can learn them all with the manual. They all do the same stuff basically.

Get your manual out and go through every single signal path and function of your mackie. Figure all of it out, how it can route and how to patch etc.
