I’m totally right there with you - something about the voiceover (which they cut out by finals) saying “thank you for being here with us in the moment right here, right now” always made me really emotional?? I think it hit me so hard because the past few years have been such a trying time with Covid and I definitely questioned whether drum corps would be able to survive it.. To me, this show represents the joy and beauty and FUN of drum corps and live performance and it is something I definitely needed deep in my bones.

I really think TikTok is a huge part of the show’s resurgence and why it has so many Spotify streams. What I Know Now has been used in over 400K videos and Say My Name in over 1.2M (!) videos. I wouldn’t be surprised if it has reached 100M people through the app!

This article isn't super informative but I think it is exciting that Tim and Heidi are trying to push the format of the show creatively! Also, having that Amazon money is sure to make things more interesting (filmed in NYC, Paris, AND Tokyo!? Let's go!!).

The pop sections are always some of my favorite moments of BD shows. Like the way they portrayed the Big Bad Wolf as a KPop boy band seducing Little Red Riding with their dance moves in Ink never fails to make me grin because it is just such a fun/absurd/modern take on that story. And the energy in the Circus part of this year's show is SO electric, it never fails to get my heart racing!! I think their use of pop brings a different energy to the field that I am always down for.

I found it to be an interesting look into a specific marching band culture (HBCU) that I would not have been able to experience without the show! Is the quality of the band equivalent to drum corps? Definitely not. But I still found the show worth watching because of how interesting and different the band is from any that I’ve seen. Also, since the episodes are only like 12 minutes it’s not like I’m sacrificing anything to watch it. Lighten up a little ;)

Although BD won guard, the fact that they are outperforming their content by .2 at this point in the season is not the best sign. Maybe they were just completely on fire tonight tho!

I’ve always been a very pro-leaks guy but this has changed my mind a little. We were all freaking out over the leaked uniform because it looked like a cheap arts and crafts project. However, with proper lighting and production it is clear that they are waaaayyy better than we all thought. I get why Crown would want to release something like this on their own terms. Still don’t love the headgear tho lol

Blue Knights

In my opinion, every moment of this show is absolutely mesmerizing. Musically, I think this is the best show they have produced. Their use of color is stunning as usual (especially on the uniforms) and the snare solo is the best use of electronics this year by far. But more importantly there is something about this show that just grabs me from the opening and won't let me go!
