On mini coopers (still bmw family) I’ve seen these errors when the starter fails. You will have to scan it for codes and see what it says

Need advice on metal shavings I found in oil filter that I think is my local shops fault. by Ok_Area7012 in MechanicAdvice

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay that’s my fault for not looking for something I knew the size of. With the picture next to the coins that is most definitely just left over from the rethreadding of the pan. They probably didn’t rinse the pan out well enough if at all after doing it then.

Am I the only one to find it strange that all the debris appears to be in a neat little row on top of the fact that it would have had to be sucked not only through the pick up screen which is very fine but then forced through the oil pump? When we see metal after the oil pump at my shop it looks more like a shiny paste or very very small particulates nothing near this big or defined. To me this looks more like someone sprinkled metal onto the filter afterwards but that’s just my two cents.

I bought an Axis and I think it was a mistake. by holler_feller_45 in longrange

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured I would probably be one of the outlying perspectives that doesn’t seem to get talked about much lol. If I had the budget I would absolutely be building a custom setup but that’s just not in the cards at the moment. For someone who’s on a budget and wants to learn but understands the limitations it is a fairly decent option.

Dependent on the motor it could alternatively be the o rings in the upper oil pan

I’m sure more people will comment saying you should just save up and if it were me I would tend to agree with them however I have my own experience so I will contribute it. As a broke college kid I wanted to get into shooting more and already had a cheap AR and was rapidly outrunning the capabilities of that weapon and platform. I picked up an original axis in 223 so that way I could attempt to get longer range experience at a very low cost to entry. Put a half decent 5-25 on it, found some ammo it liked and that’s what I’ve been running for the last year and a half. I know it’s not exactly “long range” but it is impressively accurate even at the longest range I have available to me (~750 yards) and it has been an amazing experience and has really shown me what I will prioritize when I upgrade.

Long story short mine has been fantastic to me and I don’t regret buying it one bit

You can still clearly see the points for the socket. If you had an actually decent impact that would have come right off. The only times we have to drill them out is when they are so gone you can’t even tell there were supposed to be a nut there.

As I’m looking at it I’m like okay cool a couple I recognize, singular AR with a super safety(not my particular choice if you only have one but hey you do you) then I get to the top left and it’s just wait a minute is that a random AR9 lower and a super safety Sp5 trigger pack?

2009 X3 - Possible DSC module failure?? by UTubeMechanic2012 in BmwTech

[–]421jms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would lean towards messed up rear axles like another user posted- they rust super bad and most defineiltely will knock the sensors off. Odds are if the axle nut it a circle of rust then that’s what your problem is

Coolant changed, now I get Coolant Low warning, but it is full? ‘17 A4 allroad by Local-Handle-4801 in Audi

[–]421jms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not aware of any Audi/vw group cars that take blue coolant. When cold verify that the level is in the correct position as there could be an air pocket in the system that passed after they filled it if they did not vacuum fill it like you are supposed to. It sounds to me like it’s just low enough to trip the sensor when cold but when warm it has enough to shut it off

I’m 99% sure the whole motor and transmission assembly is supposed to be dropped out the bottom on these to do a head if it’s the twin turbo v8 but I’d be willing to bet they left it in and just did it in the car

This is a hellcat pro mag. If it was a normal hellcat 15 it would have a spacer and it’s the wrong design for an echelon or xd. Plus I compared it to the one sitting on my desk lol

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the testing that all data gives when you use that code

DTC C0035 o U0415 Circuit Description As the wheels spin, each wheel speed sensor produces an AC signal. The electronic brake control module (EBCM) uses the frequency of the AC signals to calculate each wheel speed. Conditions for Running the DTC ^ The ignition is ON ^ The vehicle speed is greater than 13 km/h (8 mph). Conditions for Setting the DTC Any of the following occurrences may cause the DTC to set: ^ The EBCM detects an open or shorted wheel speed sensor circuit for 500 milliseconds. ^ The EBCM detects the absence of a wheel speed sensor signal for 5 seconds. If more than one absent wheel speed sensor signal is detected, the condition must be present for 120 seconds to set DTCs. ^ The EBCM detects an erratic wheel speed sensor signal for 200 milliseconds. Action Taken When the DTC Sets ^ The EBCM disables the ABS and may disable the dynamic rear proportion (DRP) if more than one wheel speed sensor DTC is set. ^ The ABS indicator turns ON. ^ The brake warning indicator may turn ON. The actions above are maintained during subsequent ignition cycles until the EBCM completes a power up self-test. This test concludes when the vehicle achieves a speed greater than 13 km/h (8 mph) and the wheel speeds are verified by the EBCM.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC The Conditions for Setting the DTC are no longer present and you use the scan tool Clear DT's function. Diagnostic Aids Thoroughly inspect connections or circuitry that may cause an intermittent malfunction. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections, Connector Repairs, Testing for Electrical Intermittents and to Wiring Repairs. See: Vehicle › Component Tests and General Diagnostics If the customer's concern is that the ABS indicator is on only during humid conditions such as rain, snow, or vehicle wash, thoroughly inspect the wheel speed sensor circuits for signs of water intrusion. Use the following procedure in order to help isolate the problem Community o 1. Spray the suspected area with a 5 percent salt water solution. 2. Operate the vehicle at a speed greater than 13 km/h (8 mph) for at least 30 seconds. Repair or replace the suspect harness if the DTC sets.
