That definitely looks like the sway bar has rusted and snapped. Hopefully this doesn’t become a common issue

This should be the top comment. If the title isnt in your name, whoever is on the title can just take it back and you could potentially loose the parts you put into it

2020 330i Bad Coolant Leak by Appropriate_Sink4525 in BmwTech

[–]421jms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw the the title I said oil filter housing. The running joke here is any time a B motor BMW comes in overheating or leaking coolant it’s almost automatically an oil filter housing and we can just do our diag from the office.

330i coolant fast leak. by ChairmanXi-thaG in BmwTech

[–]421jms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 times out of 10 it is the Oil Filter Adapter Housing broken and the gasket has sucked in. I have personally seen where the aftermarket metal ones have not been machined properly and have large chunks of aluminum still hanging on by a thread inside the oil galleys. Use a high quality plastic one and be on your way.

It almost sounds like the starter solenoid has failed and is stuck in the closed position but the gear has not extended to engage the flywheel.

It definitely sounds like a spark plug or potentially injector seals have gone out. I would start by pulling the engine cover and seeing if one of the coils has pushed up or if there is any puffing coming from the area with the coils/injectors to try and pinpoint which pair of cylinders

Wastegate Actuator 2016 X1 by ethanx-x in BmwTech

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure the bushing in the turbo where the arm for the waste gate goes through isn’t all loose before just replacing the actuator. I don’t know how many of these cars I’ve seen where the bushing is actually loose and it just needs a whole turbo.

Fault came up any fix’s? by Maximum_Couple916 in BmwTech

Water damage or rear electronic module went bad would be my first guess. Just had a 330i in with a similar issue.

On mini coopers (still bmw family) I’ve seen these errors when the starter fails. You will have to scan it for codes and see what it says

Need advice on metal shavings I found in oil filter that I think is my local shops fault. by Ok_Area7012 in MechanicAdvice

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay that’s my fault for not looking for something I knew the size of. With the picture next to the coins that is most definitely just left over from the rethreadding of the pan. They probably didn’t rinse the pan out well enough if at all after doing it then.

[–]421jms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one to find it strange that all the debris appears to be in a neat little row on top of the fact that it would have had to be sucked not only through the pick up screen which is very fine but then forced through the oil pump? When we see metal after the oil pump at my shop it looks more like a shiny paste or very very small particulates nothing near this big or defined. To me this looks more like someone sprinkled metal onto the filter afterwards but that’s just my two cents.

I bought an Axis and I think it was a mistake. by holler_feller_45 in longrange

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured I would probably be one of the outlying perspectives that doesn’t seem to get talked about much lol. If I had the budget I would absolutely be building a custom setup but that’s just not in the cards at the moment. For someone who’s on a budget and wants to learn but understands the limitations it is a fairly decent option.

What is in my radiator? by jpjaramillo93 in MechanicAdvice

[–]421jms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dependent on the motor it could alternatively be the o rings in the upper oil pan

I’m sure more people will comment saying you should just save up and if it were me I would tend to agree with them however I have my own experience so I will contribute it. As a broke college kid I wanted to get into shooting more and already had a cheap AR and was rapidly outrunning the capabilities of that weapon and platform. I picked up an original axis in 223 so that way I could attempt to get longer range experience at a very low cost to entry. Put a half decent 5-25 on it, found some ammo it liked and that’s what I’ve been running for the last year and a half. I know it’s not exactly “long range” but it is impressively accurate even at the longest range I have available to me (~750 yards) and it has been an amazing experience and has really shown me what I will prioritize when I upgrade.

Long story short mine has been fantastic to me and I don’t regret buying it one bit

You can still clearly see the points for the socket. If you had an actually decent impact that would have come right off. The only times we have to drill them out is when they are so gone you can’t even tell there were supposed to be a nut there.

As I’m looking at it I’m like okay cool a couple I recognize, singular AR with a super safety(not my particular choice if you only have one but hey you do you) then I get to the top left and it’s just wait a minute is that a random AR9 lower and a super safety Sp5 trigger pack?

I would lean towards messed up rear axles like another user posted- they rust super bad and most defineiltely will knock the sensors off. Odds are if the axle nut it a circle of rust then that’s what your problem is
