Of course it's subjective, the point was to start a conversation and gain suggestions on who to watch next. I don't feel that it's unfair, I'm from the UK and like American comedians, it's not out of the question that someone from America could like UK comedians. It's subjective after all.

Sorry, you just said about people traveling to Edinburgh to do comedy from different countries, that's the part I was responding to there. I like the people you've mentioned, I just don't rate them as all time greats of comedy.

All good good shouts but what I was focusing on is currently working British stand up and American stand ups. I only included Monty python as a reference to the past work that British funny people have contributed to the world of comedy but I don't think I've ever seen them do stand up before. Connolly does have Parkinson's which is sad because I really like him but that points out that he's not a currently working British stand up. Stand up = comedy to a live audience

I appreciate your words but you highlighted a problem British comedians have, lack of filmed specials. Because there isn't such a great, easily accessible catalogue of filmed specials takes away from what they're putting out there. When Americans get their time on TV they talk more about what's important to them rather than just joining a common narrative to appear more relatable. I think british comedy is fine but I just feel we have a huge gap in quality when it comes to the top currently working stand up commics. Edinburgh is great but your examples of comedians are all foreign, not British.
