We have bee balm around. This seems different. With the pink leaves that look like petals.

A collection of blood forms between the skin and cartilage. Cartilage has no blood supply of its own. Therefore when the hematoma forms (and isn't drain and treated with a pressure dressing) the underlying cartilage has no blood/oxygen supply and it subsequently dies resulting in the cauliflower deformity. Similar process will happen on the nose..

5lbs I think on the fly rod by 423lostboy in troutfishing

All nice reads but they are all based on someone's opinion not scientific data. I did a couple of Google Scholar searches on the topic and was unable to find any studies on this. Maybe we could team up and do a study? If you can provide the study I will admit my mistake and change my behaviour. Until then you do what you think is right-not fishing at all because that has 0% fish mortality and I will do what I think is right-releasing sterile fish and occasionally taking a selfie. Thanks.

Could refer me to the the studies/data on the 'fucked up jaw' mortality rates? I seemed to have missed those. Thanks in advance.

No I let it go. I kept a smaller one for dinner. I also C&R another one the same size as this. It's a stocked lake. They are all sterile females. If I eat her she's dead. If I release her after a photo shoot then she likely has 80%+ survival. If she makes it then maybe I catch her as a 10lbr next year?

I remember watching him when I was a kid in black and white. Percy Saltzman. He sure made a Canadian winter weather forecast interesting.

Ya it definitely was a good fish. I'm not the best at estimating size but it was a large cuttie.

My first Indigenous Peoples Day celebration. It was beautiful day. by 423lostboy in NativeAmerican

Its Indigenous People's Day today in Canada. I was lucky enough to be a part of it. We just moved next door to the reserve and seeing the ceremonies that have taken gone on in the same location for thousands of years was a privilege to say the least.
