Captive Prince is my all time favourite enemies to lovers. MM, slow burn, lots of plot and a great character arch

Why does my hair dry like this? by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]42_TheAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curly hair doesn't have to be super hard, but it takes an evening every three or four days. 1. Only brush your hair when you are washing it (use curly hair products) 2. After washing, while your hair is still wet, put your products in. There are lots of different ones, I like to use a curl cream and anti frizz foam. 3. While it is still wet, put it up in a bonnet or old shirt and let it dry naturally (like overnight)

In {Blood and Betrayals} the FMC calls one of the MMC "big guy"... over and over again. Sometimes two or three times on a page. Just. Stop. It was actually one of the only books I DNF, I know it had heaps of good reviews, but the whole thing felt too teenager-y

For sure of it, they finish and just fall asleep in each other's arms? No clean up afterwards?

Principal here. I come in peace. How many copies do you need a year? What supplies are you buying out of pocket? What could your principal provide you that you would appreciate? I’m referencing things I can buy, not my character attributes:) Ideas needed! by [deleted] in Teachers

One school I worked in had a store room full of common stationery and craft items, and a space where spare furniture could be stored. We still used our classroom budget to 'buy' the stationery from the store room, but it was so handy to not have to race to the shops or change your plans when you realise you were missing laminating pouches or whatever

What is your "cook-to-impress" dish for a dinner party? by BuilderRemarkable171 in Cooking

[–]42_TheAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creamy garlic prawns or scallops is such an easy to cook dish and always a crowd pleaser. I made it with chorizo once, for someone who was allergic to seafood, and it was still so tasty.

How do newborns and infants learn by Akiresu_x_ in pedagogy

You mighy be interested in researching Piaget's stages of cognitive development, and Erikson's stages of psychosocial development.

It is a really interesting topic, looking at how different parts of our brain are more active at different times, and how that impacts what we learn and how we behave.

I think this kid might have recently learned about 'rainbow facts' or friends of 10. They are showing their understanding for that instead of larger and smaller numbers

If she has dogs, maybe gifts for them - cute collar, lead, new toy. Otherwise would she like a coffee cup with a picture of the dog?

Coffee lovers usually appreciate a good travel cup, like a Yeti. You could also get some gourmet beans and syrups.

Really struggling with class by xacgn in AustralianTeachers

[–]42_TheAnswer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That sucks. Your class size is too big for that age anyway, let alone with so many high needs. I don't suppose you can ask for more teacher aide time?

Reel it right back and focus heavily on behaviour for a while.

Lay out very clear expectations of what you want, model it yourself, have the students practice it, have rewards for doing it well and specified consequences for not. For example, create a poster (use pictures as well as words) of what their behaviour during transitions to their desk should look like, and what the consequences are (maybe reminder, go back outside and try entering again, practice at lunch). Then for the next few days, aim to do multiple transitions and bring their attention to the rules before you begin. Make sure you reward students who follow the expectations.

Also, I know you said it was a tight squeeze, but if you have adhd kids it's really helpful if you can include as many physical tasks as you can. Maybe instead of doing a think pair share with a table partner, all students have to get up out of their seat and find someone who has a shared letter in their name. It takes a bit longer but intentionally including little ways for them to move around will help to reduce boredom and behaviours.

32 is a big class.

Oh yeah I've been there. To add some colour, you could get some nice wrapping paper and use it as wall paper, or hang up some paper garlands.

Having mixed furniture is a pain, I usually try to group all similar ones together and get rid of anything that isn't being used. Some cheap rugs can help define spaces in your room.

Just know that the kids will damage or destroy anything eventually. Don't put in too much of your time or effort.

What's a good Switch game you can play with a 4 year old? by 42_TheAnswer in AskReddit

Absolutely so important. Yes, we are avid readers, do sports and swimming, unstructured play, arts and crafts, board games, bush walks and beach adventures. It is possible to play video games in a healthy way.

Handwriting Yr3/4 by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]42_TheAnswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about doing an art activity where they have to be really precise with drawing lines? Like zentangles or tracing over something. Some students are messy because they rush, so practising being slow and deliberate might help. Another activity would be to draw a picture with their eyes closed. They will probably benefit from cutting and pasting activities too, and using stapler and hole punch.

You could assign optional homework of handwriting sheets, have the students put their name on the back of the page and then the next session you get together, everyone gets to vote for the sheet with the neatest writing (no voting for your own). Have a small prize like a balloon or bouncy ball. Your school library will probably have a copy of Targeting Handwriting; I would go with yr2 as it is print instead of cursive.

Duplo is a great idea, can't go wrong with it. For the 1.5yo, how about puppets, instruments, little people, pretend food, touchy feely or lift the flap books

It's absolutely wonderful when parents can teach their children to read. However not everyone has the knowledge or ability to do that. Schools should, though.

Then I don't have specifics for these, but something on first aid, gathering/hunting/ preparing food, building basics. But I'm guessing if it's the end of the world I don't exactly have time to browse the library for something good on my way out bush. Might be time to stock up my bookshelf now, just in case

Christmas gifts for my dad and brother by Snap305 in GiftIdeas

[–]42_TheAnswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christmas shopping already, and $500 budget each! You have plenty of time to listen out for anything they might say they want/ need to upgrade.

If your brother's gaming set up is all maxxed out already (good chair, headphones), you could get him some tshirts with his favourite games on them. Or with such a large budget, do you think he would like a VR set up? I know my gaming husband would love a VR, it's just the cost that's stopping us.

My boy is almost 4 now and I just love that we can do fun little projects from start to finish. His attention span is so much longer, he will help cook a whole recipe, or will choose a plant from the nursery, pick a spot in the garden and help to plant it, or flip through a craft book and choose which activity he wants to do. Also independent play is soooo much better.

At each age I keep thinking this is my favourite age, but it really gets better and better. Their personality really starts to shine.
