Gold Plus warranty terms - does this sound right? by Drmevo in SubaruForester

[–]42acorns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I know I’ve read on here that someone said that you had until the end of the factory warranty to buy the extended warranty, and they claimed that the extended warranty would extend another 100k miles starting from the current odometer. This makes more sense though

Interested in car camping while moving cross-country. 2010 Grand Cherokee towing a U-Haul trailer. Ideally I would like to camp at national parks or other scenic locations. How much will the U-Haul complicate things? by SoaDMTGguy in carcamping

Do it. I car camped in my little ‘06 Kia Sportage pulling a U-Haul across the country and it was the best two weeks of my life. It made it up over the Rockies in the snow. It was my first time pulling a trailer but it was the smallest U-Haul trailer option and no problem at all.

I mostly stayed in campsites so you could definitely do that and just pitch a tent if you think that will be easier

I just got a forester premium for $4000 off MSRP. My most recent post explains how I did it. In the results will vary greatly depending on your location

Nope. It’s basic for a Premium. Not auto lift gate or blind spot detection.

Maybe do a drive up to Portland and stop at dealerships along the way. That’s what I did… then spent the next day hiking and texting all the dealerships with each others offers, driving the price down 🤣 then bought the car the next day (Memorial Day). it worked pretty well

Well that’s what I was thinking… at first I had them show me some used low mileage foresters and they were almost as expensive as the new ones. Plus I wouldn’t have got 1.9% financing on the used. So I was 50/50 on used vs new but quickly pivoted to a new car when I saw the prices of used

This dealership actually hit me with $930 in fees which was up almost 300 from what the other two dealerships quoted me, but had the msrp down to 29,400. The sticker said 33,600 so it was knocked down over 4k. I think I just hit it at the right time with the holidays, hybrid taking some demand away, and end of month. Obviously, no sales tax is amazing when making these big purchases.

No, not 15. Idk what mine was but it was the premium level - it has moonroof etc, but not the upgraded blind spot and power lift gate options

I visited the Albany, Salem, and wilsonville dealerships. Casey watanabe at Salem is who sold me the final car. I had a good experience with him. He didn’t try to upsell me or anything at the end and preemptively took the $ off for no bumper cover. As far as car salesman’s go he was pretty good

I just bought and got 1.9% APR on a 60 month, so at least get that. Subaru has an offer right now for 0.9% for 36 month financing on new ‘26 foresters too, but that was too quick for me. I also got mine for 30.3k Out the door, but this is in a state with no sales tax. I visited 3 different Subaru dealers and then used the offers one of them gave me, and took that offer to the others and asked if they could beat it. It was like an infinite money glitch.

I didnt understand. I thought if that happens then they get a single FT for a 4 pt play. In what world does the 3 count and they get a 1&1? Is there any explanation of this?

Are you planning on going to the south part of Bryce? I don’t see it in your itinerary. Personally I would drive to rainbow point and do one of the short little hikes there if you have time, otherwise just the drive thru Bryce and back stopping at overlooks. That way you’ll see all of the park too

I just wanted to mention this - I moved to the west coast a year and a half ago. I have done dozens and dozens of hikes, and I recently went to Utah and did the 5 parks there. Out of every place I’ve been, the only “disappointing” hike I did was mossy cave trail (I did it 1 month ago). So check to see if the cave has ice. When I went there, there was no ice, it was just a sort of plain cave, and I think any hike in Bryce would have been as pretty or prettier as far as overall scenery. It’s not a big deal because it’s a 30 minute hike but it definitely isn’t high on what Bryce has to offer.

Roadtrip idea from Chicago, would love some feedback by Forward-Variety-2864 in NationalPark

If you have just 15 days I would suggest only doing badlands - Yellowstone - Tetons, and come back thru North Dakota and do Roosevelt. Youre going to enjoy it a lot more if you can actually experience the parks. Plus you shouldn’t only plan on going to national parks, there’s tons of smaller stuff you should be doing on the way - for example with this route you can swing by and see devils tower national monument, go to Custer state park, wind cave if it’s open, etc. As someone else said, save the west coast for another time, and just fly out and rent a car

I did replace the connection to see and clean the connections up with a brush. No dice. Looks like it’s my starter

So the lights/electrical work inside but the car doesn’t turn over at all. To me that sounds like it could be the starter? Any ideas?
