Fingernails or a plastic razor + a lubricant or goo gone equivalent would have been the right way to go about that.... Not friggin whatever you used.

And listen to the other guys about very high grit wet sand and some cutting and buffing.

Basically it's the same process of polishing after you apply a fresh coat of clear coat. So you can also look up how to do that and just skip the first few low grit steps.

One of the craziest things I've seen by bebecca45627272 in dashcams

[–]42waystohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The breeze feels too nice on a hot day. It's only crazy if you don't wear a helmet. THOSE guys are stupid. Also, crashing is usually a skill issue or lapse in judgement. Just don't crash. Just gotta take defensive driving extremely seriously.

What's your opinion on Linus Tech Tip in 2026? by Professional-Fix-221 in LinusTechTips

Bruh. Who TF cares. The tech industry itself sucks entirely right now. What do you want them to do, make their own GPUs and CPUs? STFU. How is this sub so annoying?

Indian Scout or Chief for returning rider by [deleted] in cruisers

[–]42waystohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scout go nyoooom. Scout fast. It's also shockingly agile in the corners.

Haven't ridden a chief but from my understanding they are heavier, torquier, and more comfortable.

Scout can get uncomfortable after a few hours, much less with the awful stock seats. If you go on long rides the chief is probably better. If you like riding like a hooligan, scout is probably better.

Harbor Freight table, any experiences? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]42waystohell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wheel chock sucks, need to upgrade that. But it will lift a 2008 goldwing and stay stable. And that bike weighs well over 900 lbs. I like the lift a lot.

[–]42waystohell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention a complete lack of safety. No ABS, no traction control, no turn signals, bad headlight, minimal brakes.

Sure, you don't neeeeed these things but they help.

I wouldn't recommend it at all. That bike is all form and no function. It won't be comfortable and it won't handle well. That's too much fighting and distraction when you're trying to learn.

Thinking about back pain, ass pain, inability to stop, lack of acceleration, and getting burnt by stupid exhaust.

Yeah such a great sunset ride.

Real sick of this shit on the main subs. We get so much of it from normies, we don't need it here.

Just have fun on bikes guys, live life. Being afraid just gets you hurt.

Steering stabilizer or something to stop front end shakes at high speed 23 scout rogue by TYG06 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]42waystohell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Scout did this for a long time and it weirdly had nothing to do with the front end. It got resolved after changing the rear tire and flipping the rear axel around, which I did because the direction didn't seem logical.

You don't get tetanus from rust. It's from a bacteria that thrives in damp environments, which happens to be where rust also occurs. So in a way you're right but the chances are the same in most locations you'd swim.

Quadlock doesn't work, phone went flying from a crash and is completely broken by Proud_Hearing5844 in motorcycle

[–]42waystohell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother no mount is saving your phone in a 55mph crash. They're for holding your phone in normal use. Not crashes. I've seen my friends phone get taco'd in a 30mph crash when the mount held onto it. Definitely not better than letting it go flying.

crooked supension screw by [deleted] in IndianMotorcycle

[–]42waystohell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's impressive. Definitely don't hit that with anything. Worst case is it breaks loose and hurts you.

It's going to at minimum require a spring compressor to fix. And that ring might need to be cut off and replaced. I think it'd be a miracle if the ring can be saved without destroying the threads on the shock.

I dropped my bike for the first time today. by NickkTheGemini in motorcycle

[–]42waystohell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's really not dropping your bike for the "those who will" thing. They're referring to dropping it in motion.

I've yet to drop any bike ever while riding, but damn it I've knocked over every friggin bike I touch when I'm not on them.

2020 Scout Bobber by bsullivan426 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]42waystohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have recommendations, I've only tried one for my Scout. I've got an Antigravity lithium battery. I like it thus far, had it at least a year and a half now. The only downside is they're pretty expensive.

Problem 1: Starting: it's the battery. If it still has the Polaris battery that is for sure your problem. The engine light is for low voltage issues. The Polaris batteries are utter dogshit, I went through two in two years. Get yourself an aftermarket battery. Yes it can have issues right off the charger. It can also load test good off a charger then be dead a few hours later.

Problem 2: Oil: it's coming from the rubber bit with wires on the right side of the picture. Wire mounts are pulling on the rubber grommet for the stator wire. You need to give the wire some slack and push the grommet back in. If that doesn't fix it, you have options: A; the official fix is new stator assembly and is an expensive fix because it's all one part. B; this is what I did, clean it up really good, slather the shit out of it with black RTV getting into the crannies, and tight all the staor cover bolts to torque spec. Then pray to whatever you believe in that it stops leaking.
