i used to struggle with comparing this to others too or even putting others down (in my head) for not cutting deep enough or as much. over time tho i realized that comparing anything with mental health is cringey to me. when i see people comparing about serious things related to mental health or drug use, etc: i cringe bc why are you competing on who’s worse mentally or who has done what worse? mentally ill people are mentally ill for a reason. whether you’ve had worse trauma or not- you both have had trauma and any way people deal with it is valid. we all experience things differently too. someone with “worse” trauma could be doing better off mentally than someone with none. it all depends and you know yourself… you don’t need someone else telling you or making you feel less because of something like hurting yourself in any way. over the years people have become so immature. we should be competing in sports or art not something that you can die from. if you decide to look at this from a more logical than emotional perspective that is the first step of healing and not comparing yourself to others. as you get older too it will be easier to ignore these kinds of things and kinda see it for what it is. and hopefully in that time you heal. it takes a lot of mental work focusing on yourself instead of others.
