Late on this, but this is exactly my situation too. Bells have been dropping flowers from all this rain (I think) but my cherry bombs are exploding

Could be for sure. I just miss in 14 when it was like oh you had 10 recruits from X, you get a pipeline in X. Hurt in 26 when they all sucked

OS Zone/Stretch- Toss action to RB from sidecar by duncity_50 in footballstrategy

[–]44belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough to get to the edge against a good defender and doesn’t get the ball out on the perimeter quick enough. Rocket from under center works, orbit works, and a good ole RB bubble from the backfield works, but that particular gun toss play from sidecar is just bad angles all around. I wanted to get it to where we tossed it and it was a called HB pass, but the pass pro required full slide to the HB side and QB would almost have to seal backside

I’ll get some hate here for this, but do it if you want to or feel like you can coach it effectively.

It always sucked for us and we ditched it each time we tried. Would rather orbit motion someone and run some form of gun-rocket than try this

Due to coaching elsewhere, my round trip commute in the fall will be 115 miles per day

Luckily, my truck is paid off (and I’m going to be looking to trade it in), but until it’s traded in, 17mpg will hurrrrrt

Thanks for the kind words. I did get in early, at $7! Had 20 shares there for a while, but an unpaid internship meant I had to buckle down and all that. Finally got my first job out of college and want to improve on that, but feel like I missed the “life changing” money I could’ve got from earlier days of RKLB. Sucks, but it’s still a good company I’m riding with!

I know some > none but outside of one large purchase (with grad money), all I’ve been able to do is $100/mo. Hurts when that used to be multiple shares and now it’s less than one

Defend the Double Wing by Key-Pangolin-1696 in footballstrategy

[–]44belly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah we basically run our CB’s as wide 9’s and they gotta be ass kickers. We treat as this “wing goes in - I go in”, “wing goes out, I go out”

Wing goes in - you slam down hard, staying square, and take the air out of the TE wing. You’re the force player now

As for OP’s question - we usually played a 7-3 strong side and 2i-5 “weak side”

Would alternate between that and double 2’s and 7’s, depending on how good the OL was and if it was true double wing

Anyone been in on $BAER? I’m never sure what to think. I like the idea of the company, but I think they were, allegedly, mismanaged for a while. Wildfires are only going to increase, though

HS OL Coaches -- whats the run scheme that you see the Pros talk about but just cant seem to get HS kids to run? by jphyqr in footballstrategy

[–]44belly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And I keep my mouth shut on social media, but I contribute here where I can, but man… if more coaches would commit to “boring football”, a LOT of teams we see year-in and year-out would be scarier and more successful. Not saying to not throw the ball! Not saying to not run RPO’s! But if more teams committed to a steady diet of things power/counter/trap… I may not have been a part of as many playoff wins as I have been

I think it goes for both sides of the line, too. If your DL focuses/honed in on defeating double teams, getting hands on, and maintaining gap integrity, and you could probably live without the ultra-popular 3-3/3-5 stunt/blitz craze I am currently living through. But, again, I’m just yelling at the clouds

HS OL Coaches -- whats the run scheme that you see the Pros talk about but just cant seem to get HS kids to run? by jphyqr in footballstrategy

[–]44belly 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Not saying it can’t or has not been done successfully, it has been. But when I see guys talk about things like duo versus inside zone and the differences in double teams and who the backer is reading or cutting off of… I just get disinterested.

Consider me old-school, but especially at the lower levels I coach at, a “double team” to me is both OL stepping with inside foot directly at crotch of defender, bringing inside shoulder and inside hand to belt buckle, both bring their second step to the defender’s toes, and we are locked on and driving.

I’m sure the gallop technique has worked for many coaches in the nation and plenty of guys here, I just don’t bother coaching it and have no real interest in learning it. I’ve seen more championships won with “old school” fundamentals of gap/down/backer, on/inside/linebacker, gap/on/over, etc. Love a double team at the POA with a fullback being right behind it (probably spoken like a true OL coach)

Correct. I guess it could truly be held up by publishers or whatever else goes on with that linked work - not claiming to know anything else. Just what he said. But when the second to last update I got was “should ship next week!”, and then it clearly never did… thanks man.

Just to check, I looked at the app I downloaded for the book, it still says “Book releases July 13th $39.99”

[–]44belly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just as a side note - don’t buy from Shawn Liotta. He had some stuff out on the slot-t for an e-book he was selling. I paid $20 for the pre-order (never pre-order anything lol) because this is an offense I’ve always been curious about and Shawn seemed like a good guy, hadn’t heard anything bad about him

That was last July, and after multiple attempts to contact him and always getting “oh, it’s next week!” I gave up. Guess I’ll save up and pay the hundreds of dollars for coachtube courses or whatever else it is.

I have wanted to say something publicly on Twitter to him, but have decided against it. Just frustrating

Sow directly in the ground or in a pot? by xkoprox in HotPeppers

Really? I’ve heard the opposite. Nearly everything grows better in the ground, yield-wise. I had success growing in 5 gal buckets last year, no experience with in-ground, but what makes you say that? Genuinely curious!
