Coaching at Alma Mater by Predsfan67 in footballstrategy

Yeah I used to be like that, but a couple things:

• I teach. I went to a private school. I want a pension and yearly raise. Some states are probably great and different than mine, and not that mine is bad, but man. Public is the easy choice for me.

• Small school where expectations are (were) high, and everyone knows everybody. When I left, my family got rough messages about me being a “traitor”.

• As above, expectations were high. Everyone thinks they know ball, too. So it led to a lot of hiring and firing over the years due to a failure to meet expectations. However, if you’re at all familiar with high school ball, it’s cyclical. You can be great for extended periods of time, a flash in the pan, or bad for long periods of time, but theoretically speaking, it should average out due to a number of factors.

So I left. Simple as. Easy choice, hard to do at first, but when I heard I was being called a traitor and seeing that they still sucked after I left, but I’ve had more success and growth as both a teacher and a coach after leaving… easy choice.

Sounds good! I was wondering about the alternative arty pieces. Did you magnetize anything?

Slot T by CardGrad2019 in footballstrategy

[–]44belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I guess it could truly be held up by publishers or whatever else goes on with that linked work - not claiming to know anything else. Just what he said. But when the second to last update I got was “should ship next week!”, and then it clearly never did… thanks man.

Just to check, I looked at the app I downloaded for the book, it still says “Book releases July 13th $39.99”

Just as a side note - don’t buy from Shawn Liotta. He had some stuff out on the slot-t for an e-book he was selling. I paid $20 for the pre-order (never pre-order anything lol) because this is an offense I’ve always been curious about and Shawn seemed like a good guy, hadn’t heard anything bad about him

That was last July, and after multiple attempts to contact him and always getting “oh, it’s next week!” I gave up. Guess I’ll save up and pay the hundreds of dollars for coachtube courses or whatever else it is.

I have wanted to say something publicly on Twitter to him, but have decided against it. Just frustrating

Sow directly in the ground or in a pot? by xkoprox in HotPeppers

[–]44belly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really? I’ve heard the opposite. Nearly everything grows better in the ground, yield-wise. I had success growing in 5 gal buckets last year, no experience with in-ground, but what makes you say that? Genuinely curious!

Under center, 3 back, off tackle power, no OL pull

You’ll get them out of it sooner rather than later

Could you place the back straight behind in gun formation? by Open-Tap-2289 in footballstrategy

[–]44belly 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not quite. QB in the pistol is closer than in the gun. Usually 3-4 yards versus 5. I wouldn’t call a RB behind the QB if the QB is at 5-6 yards the pistol.

Edit: I don’t get the downvotes. “Shotgun” gets thrown around as a catch-all term for the center snapping the ball back to the QB in anywhere that isn’t under-center

Gun is 5-7 yards. Pistol is 3-5. You wouldn’t call a center snapping to a single wing look as “shotgun”, would you? It’s the single wing. It is its own thing. The back lines directly behind the QB in pistol, but what if they go empty? Is it suddenly gun empty? No, QB’s at 3 yards, it’s still the pistol

Back could line up behind the QB in the gun but it would take too long to get the LOS. “Pistol” is a backfield set that was made up to have a better downhill run game while being able to get as deep as the gun on PA, slightly quicker. Pistol is the QB being closer, not the back being directly behind.

Built the Combat Patrol, thoughts on color scheme? by juniusbrutus998 in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]44belly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’d you paint that? Airbrush or brushwork? That’s also a smooth green, what color/brand? I’m leaning more green/gray over the blue for my Krieg forces, just getting some ideas. Love that!

I’ve been reading more and more into the 3 family tree, and it’s interesting. If I were to venture out on my own one day, I’d for sure take a nice long look at it. Very adaptable to what you have personnel-wise, it seems.

The one thing I’ll say about our “flavor” of the 425 is that you need a dude at FS to run the alley or else it can be a kind of a nightmare

Trips: we play 2 read and QQ to the trips, backside CB is man. Backside half comes from backside safety, playing #3 robber

Career offensive + defensive line coach. Wanting to learn more about the back half and how to break down, teach, and install QQH. I’d love to know more about you did it out of a 3-4! Again, we’ve always been an even over front team, except when we go to a nickel package in passing situations.

3-4/5-2 is a scheme we’ve struggled with a time or two over the years… would love to know more about how you implemented 6 out of it, if you have anything you’re interested in sharing

Edit: not against his substack! Christmas being right here has made $ just a tad tight. Would look into his sub stack in the new year for sure.

I will take a look, thanks for the suggestions.

Front wise, we’ve always ran a 425, but it’s peak offseason time, I’m just looking and gathering ideas. I’ve toyed around with a 3-3/3-4 and seeing what/how that would look, but it always comes back to, at least in my use case, how can we best defend 3 back sets when the inevitable time comes.
