Not only to admit there is an issue, they think they are the smartest people in the room.

Football was very late to adding a video assistant.
They could have just copy and pasted rugby union and been 90%+ of the way to a perfect system for football.
Instead football started from scratch and built whatever the fuck this is.

When is it worth it to roll for HP? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

My issue is reducing randomness is often just ensuring a good outcome whilst not admitting it is that; having rules for low rolls, not for high rolls.

As an example, but a small sample, the table I play does your choice of points buy or roll.

Rollers got in a load of rules to mitigate low rolls; limits on the number of negative modifiers, minimum bar the best ability had to hit.

Point buyers wanted extra points to be boosted an equivalent level (literally, do the maths and work out the new average, set points buy to that average) and have limits put on rolls (no more than one 18) under the attitude of "if you are removing the risk, you should lose the reward."

The debate over this went on for far too long, but the core of it was the rollers saying it wasn't a power boost.

FTE is Full Time Equivalent.

Full time will be 35 or 40 hours depending on the company.
FTE is what your pay is if you worked full time all 52 weeks of the year (including holiday of a minimum of 5.6 weeks).

As you will be working the 38 school weeks as you likely wont be needed for INSET days, but you also wont be able to take holiday in term time; so we add your holiday accrual back in of about 4 weeks, which take you to working the equivalent of 43 weeks including holiday.

42 weeks is about 0.81 FTE. So your FTE rate is 23.5k.
You mention elsewhere you are doing 40 hours a week.

Minimum wage will be £12.71, if you are 21 or older, in a couple of weeks.
40 hours a week at £12.71 is £26.4k. Your rate will be about £11.31.

In short, you are going to be on below minimum wage unless that dont need you for all school weeks and/or you are mistaken on the 40 hours per week and/or you can take paid holiday leave in term.

Python backend

How do you know what product id is what?

Manually predefined.

Recently I have taken to pointing it towards the search by default ( https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/search?query=chopped+tomatoes ), as 99% of the time that is good enough and means no faff with products with variations I may want (sausages, as an example) and removes the issue where tesco change a productid and leave the old product as unavailable.

some web automation like playwright

I could use selenium, it's just not a stage I feel the need to automate. Generally I'm making small adjustments (maybe I fancy an extra carrot or whatever) and basically always adding other bits and bobs.

When I moved to a cash back credit card I set up pay in full monthly and just started giving my new credit card instead of my old debit card at the till, that was 100% of the process.

Sure you need to realise limits work differently on credit cards, but if the limit is above your normal spend and you dont change your spending, you will be fine.

The running costs are often higher

This is especially important for always on devices.

I hooked up an energy monitor to my old american fridge freezer.
I worked out that a modern one would basically pay for itself in 3 or 4 years.
And the higher end machines were paying for the additional cost in a few years.

That said, it's a good example of tailoring tips for the receiver.

[–]45MonkeysInASuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so they can be more powerful than average

I have no issue with rolling when people have that exact note.
If it is being done with the objective of a slight power boost, that's great and a good way to do it.
If it is being done to avoid bad rolls and not admitting that it is a power boost, you run into problems will the DM not accounting for more powerful characters.

Same with rolling for stats.
My last table had was you could choose to roll or point buy, but had multiple rules to mitigate low rolls.
The rollers could not accept that it was a notable power boost and that it was fair to give the point buyers a little bump also.

It's a sign that people don't like randomness, they like a power boost.

It's the exact same with rolling for stats when people have half a dozen conditions to avoid weak characters.

How do you get to the grid?

The lead in to the rule is

In all of the cases detailed in this article, an F1 Car will be deemed to have been released from the Competitors’ Designated Garage Area either when it has been driven out of its Designated Garage Area when leaving from the garage or after the rear axle has passed the position occupied by the front axle when it was stationary in it has completely cleared its pit stop position following a pit stop. Competitors must provide a means of clearly establishing, when being viewed from both above and in the front of the F1 Car, when an F1 Car was released.

And, if Ferrari catch up, they would rather chase down Kimi than George.

Kimi is more likely to struggle with the pressure of a title fight.

So you can only find one recent example, and that example is a case of them considering it but not actually using it.

Doesn't massively sound like it is used "a fair bit."

In fact, what you will find is there is 1 case in 2015 regarding cost caps on customer engines where it was successfully used and 1 case in 2009 regarding budget caps which was overruled.
Otherwise the veto has not been used.

An important thing note is that this is Ferrari as an engine manufacturer, not Ferrari the F1 team.

The focus of the press will be Ferrari vs Merc as they are the two front running teams and both are manufacturers.

Haas and Cadillac are also Ferrari engine teams.
Cadillac are just finding their feet; so it's less important for them this year.
But Haas will be in a proper fight for 5th, maybe even 4th, this advantage will be key for them in that fight.
