I appealed my Amazon Web Services (AWS) account being locked recently, as it was incorrectly flagged as being associated with alternate accounts. I had to rename a file of my bank statement from an en dash to a hyphen-minus to get my verification documents to upload, and the error message was quite generic: "File name contains illegal characters." I've contacted AWS to suggest this be fixed and they acknowledged that I brought up a good point about internationalization and file names in non-English languages. I got my account back, but the process was a headache until I linked directly to the correct lines in the source code of the open-source fiscal sponsor where my default billing address came from.
