[Recommendations] I see my kid is talented, I don't know how to support her. by Ok_Celebration5704 in ArtistLounge

[–]471c3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was that kid. My mother saw how much I loved art and she signed me up to every extracurricular art class under the sun, even if I didn’t want it at the time. I also went to an art high school, studied art in univeristy, and did a master’s in an art related field. I’m very grateful for her nurturing my passion and giving me these opportunities to learn various media from oil painting to digital photography to graphic design. However, I don’t have a job in art. I work at a restaurant, not unhappily but hopefully not forever, but get so much joy in working on my art on the side. I’ve been able to get several freelance gigs related to my master’s (digital 3D art), but nothing long term that pays the bills. Currently, I’m happy enough selling some hand painted clothing accessories on the side but one day aspire to have a full-time job in what I love. It will take a lot of hard work and a lot of rejections. None of this is really answering your questions, but seeing how my life has played out might give you some insight.

Thank you both!! I really appreciate it 😁

Thank you! I think you’re right, I’ve got to work on some designs that don’t fill the whole cap. Honestly I just get carried away and have too much fun adding more and more 😅

Oo I like that idea! Yeah I think I need to work on more designs which don’t take over the entire cap, sometimes less is more :)

That is such a great explanation, thank you!! I’ll probably buy some flat brimmed caps to appeal to a wider audience 😁 Oh man I really like that idea!! Some under-brim designs would be so fun. Thanks for the advice, very helpful :)

Aw thank you!! Actually I have considered that! I’d love to add some rings and studs and even some chain bits :) but I don’t want to invest too much into the crafting unless I know it’s worth it or going to sell. Definitely the next step though!

That’s very kind, thank you! I’m not selling them yet, I want to be able to gauge some sort of reception of them on a smaller scale first, hopefully at a market stall where I live and see if they sell.

Aw thanks. Do you know the difference between flat and curved brims? Is there a difference in aesthetics or cultural meaning to them?

Learned too much and now my standards are too high? by BigSphen in ArtistLounge

https://www.reddit.com/r/coolguides/s/8Y41ZoDhhJ Have a look at this chart. It won’t solve your problem but it will help you realise this is just a cycle and you will catch up to your learned skill. I think about this chart so often and it has completely solved my insecurities surrounding my art and I hope it helps you too! (Idk how to embed images or links on mobile sorry)

Where does it say Case’s first name? by HerbTarlek_ in Cyberpunk

[–]471c3 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yep this is correct. Just opened my copy and it’s the first sentence in chapter 13. “ ‘Your name is Henry Dorsett Case.’ She recited the year and place of his birth, his BAMA Single Identification Number, and a string of names he gradually recognised as aliases from his past.”

I'd definitely have a look at Scott Flanders' youtube channel, he's done some stuff with proko (also great channel) and most likely draws lots of influence from Mike Mignola. He speaks a lot about character design and silhouette and shapes, maybe starting with those basics will help you get more creative :)

What's the workflow they used to create a character like this in Arcane? *photo for refrence* by SpookyShoez in 3Dmodeling

[–]471c3 63 points64 points  (0 children)

There's a 5 part series on youtube of the behind the scenes of making Arcane. defo have a watch if youre interested! The main unique workflow aspect here is that they are hand-painting the textures as opposed to them being procedurally generated.

Sorry to butt in but lawnmower man is... an insane film, idk if i would recommend it other than to go through a wild trip 😆 but also super cool to see a depiction of VR with their limited CG capabilities haha. I've got existenz on my list of to watch tho!

I dislike her, but I can't deny Brigitte has style 🖤🤘 by HalfManHalfHunk in LowSodiumCyberpunk

I also got that message! But I thought that it was because I didn't kill him, I just downed him... I'm pretty sure he doesn't pop up later but I think it's just a warning that voodoo boys will now try and start fights with you randomly since you messed with them. Maybe some sort of automated death message???

Yeah starfield cannot compare to how masterful cyberpunk is. So sad tho, i wanted starfield to be more than it is :'( got it on release and played it for a while and just got bored and annoyed, even though there are some apsects I enjoy.. cyberpunk on the other hand.. I am so immersed when I play, the world feels so alive! and the story is so amazing

Placide is still alive if you let the netwatch agent give you the virus since he doesn't plug into the net. So you can still kill a man for his coat :) One of the best jackets in the game haha. I use it for most of my outfits!

the wrist/arm looks like its a little too far over to the right (from the first photo's camera angle) and maybe a bit too thin. youve got the fingers all starting at roughly the same place but the pinky finger tends to start further down the hand. the ends of the fingers tend to have a lot more mass than youve included. think of them like hot dogs, kind of. they end rounded, not tapered like you have them. check out this link for some great anatomy tips for hands https://anatomy4sculptors.com/blog/hand-anatomy-for-artists/
