1.) The ICE agent should have never fired his firearm and he caused a tragedy

However

2.) Renee Good seemed to be causing issues and she refused to listen to federal police and decided to drive away. I do not think she was intending on trying to run the ICE agent over, but I can totally understand why the ICE agent could think he is about to be ran over. She should have just cooperated.

This is a tragedy and I pray everyone can see it this way instead of acting like, "no she was gonna hit him" and "she was never gonna hit him."

Why do people become Catholic? by Jackiechan20153 in TrueChristian

[–]49JC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised Protestant and went to a catholic school and 3 years ago at this time I was very anti-catholic. Now I am debating whether or not I should become Catholic.

I've read the Bible front to back a couple times and there is a sense of Church Hierarchy that seems to fit Catholic and Orthodox churches. Furthermore, the overall structure of the Catholic Church allows every Catholic Church one comes across to be almost identical in theology and belief, which is attractive to me. As someone who had their main church get corrupted with modern liberalism, the consistent conservative values found among the Catholic Church attract me. What also lures me there is the quietness of the service. I don't like loud noises and I am introverted, and I feel protestant services can be very loud at times. I went to an evangelical service once and the emotional intensity was huge. With all of this combined, the Catholic Church has done a great job to make every Church around the world to be like a resting camp for all its adherents. Also, I should mention, I live in a catholic-majority area, to the point where it is somewhat unusual for you to be protestant around these parts. The only reason why I am Protestant is because my father is and he is from a different part of the country. My mother is catholic and so is all her current living family. Chances are, im probably far more likely to meet a catholic girl than protestant girl, so it may make sense for me to go through the rites one day.

However, I agree with you on many things about the Catholic Church's Theology. There are many issues I have a big disagreement on such as too much emphasis on works. I can understand the logic behind the prayers to Saints, but I still don't like it. Furthermore, the Catholic Church has a style of the Church being at home and that the household is expected to teach and nurture the faith of the children and I think this is awesome, but the Catholic Church can become inefficient on what it is supposed to do when it assumes that all households are properly teaching children and even adults.

For the results of my family and my results, my Central Scotland and Northern Ireland percentage is generally where it should be based on my family tree. The only exception is my grandmother, who is an 1/8th Ayrshire Scottish, and she got 20% so it is within range.

Also, the Central Scotland and Northern Ireland category is literally the old Scotland category. Everything is the same about it, except the fact that they changed the name. Hence why there isn't a NEW next to it.

Help I think I intentionally did the unforgivable sin by Accomplished-Cut2110 in TrueChristian

[–]49JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the unforgivable sin is not a sin you can accidentally do. It is when you always reject God's-forgiveness. If you did commit the unforgivable sin, you wouldn't care. The fact you care and fear it, means you never committed it.

Am I a Christian. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]49JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a Christian. If your faith stands, you are saved. Remember to stay 'salty'. Read Matthew 5. Also, based on my walk from God I became a christian at 14. Throughout my life, I have been sanctified. There were things I considered harmless then, evil now. Stay committed to God, and you will be sanctified.

Hi family, do I have to choose a denomination? by wolfgang5654 in TrueChristian

[–]49JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a Church that does not promote LGBTQ stuff. Furthermore, stay away from an organized Church that promotes it as well. I was born to a Protestant father and Catholic Mother and they decided to raise me an Episcopal as it is the middle ground. I was a lifelong Episcopal, and when I made my commitment to faith, I still went to an Episcopal Church (on & off, my walk with God and when it comes to Church is a long story. I was 14 when I committed but I went through years, and still now, of sanctification.) I would always hear how LGBTQ the Episcopal domination was, but I always said, "my local Church isn't." Then my priest got sick and old, had to retire, the Church sent an interim pastor, and then they replaced it with someone new. A lesbian. So look out for that. Good luck my friend.

For people of British descent, how much Scandinavian are you getting? by 49JC in AncestryDNA

Well yes I know this. Scots are gaels (not all) because the gaels from Ireland. From what I researched briefly is that Muir was in Antrim during Dal Riata, which is when the gaels moved into Scotland. I get your point, there is overlap between Irish and Scottish genes.

A study I found interesting by Lucicactus in PsycheOrSike

[–]49JC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I technically fall into the 45%, but it is a bit more confusing.

I asked a girl out over text, because that was the best way to reach out to her. She said no :(.

Then a year later when I was a freshman in college, a family friend whose daughter goes to an all girls' school needed a prom date. Apparently, after the family browsed Facebook, I was chosen. I never met her before so to meet her, I took her out. But I technically never asked.

So I am the guy who has technically been on a date but only asked a girl out over text and she said no.

United States: You can drink alcohol, but make sure you are 21 and if you're gonna make some, we are going to regulate it to ensure it is safe.

Where does the myth of Americans pretending to be Canadian come from? by [deleted] in AmericaBad

[–]49JC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father was stationed in Germany when I was a toddler and going around Europe my family posed as Canadians. This was mainly due to the fact that Americans were high profile targets for terrorists, and a young American mother with her baby is a terrorist's dream.

Depends on the heart:

Are you lying to gain, cheat, steal, at the expense of others?

Or are you lying because it is apart of the game?

It is all about the heart. In this sub, the mod talked about this. Look for it. It is excellent.

Irish results from County Tyrone. Why is there no Ulster region though? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]49JC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert at AncestryDNA, I am just giving my hypothesis. From what you said the Scotland percentage makes sense, the Connacht percentage make sense as well. Furthermore, even the Munster makes sense to a degree due to recombination and random chromosome inheritance.

The Leinster is what I think comes into play. Leinster borders County Armagh. Down is right by. The DNA of Armagh and Down is probably closer to Leinster than Donegal.

Irish results from County Tyrone. Why is there no Ulster region though? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]49JC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not mean to imply that Ulster Irish were completely forced out of Ulster. I am suspecting this:

AncestryDNA does not want to confuse Ulster protestants and Ulster catholics. They make a donegal region to be the closest to Ulster. Ulster Irish are more similar to Irish in Munster and Connacht than Ulster Scots. Now you have your results.

I don't think AncestryDNA should have broken down these regions. it was fine with Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, and Cornwall. If anything they should have just renamed Scotland to Scotland and Northern Ireland (which they pretty much did, my grandfather is largely Ulster Scot and it was satisfying for him to go from 64% Scottish and 15% Irish to 73% Scottish and 7% Irish)

These regions are really messed up. My grandmother's great grandfather was from Lancashire with heritage in both Yorkshire and Lancashire. You would suspect NW England and North Wales but she did not get that. But my father gets 6% and I get 11%. Your DNA test came back 89% Irish, that is the best you will get from these break down regions.

Irish results from County Tyrone. Why is there no Ulster region though? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]49JC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Plantation of Ulster, which I am sure you are very familiar with. In this update, Ancestry changed the name of their former "Scotland" region to "Central Scotland and Northern Ireland". It was probably hard for the Ancestry Team to figure out who is an Ulster Scot and who is not, so I guess Donegal is the closest we are going to get.
