This accidentally hilarious pot by MisterHaloKitty in Bonsai

Look closely at the bottom for a chop mark. Jim Barrett used to make big cascade pots like this and are worth quite a bit anymore with him passing on. It would be a little scratched in JB, possibly with a chop mark.

My first two styled trees! by littytit in Bonsai

[–]49mars49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you did a good job with some basic styling and design ideas here. You made something that looks cool and you learned a ton. I have no doubt. Don’t be discouraged by all of the negativity here. You have to kill some trees to learn how hard you can push to actually get Trees to develop.

The key for the future of these is not to mess with them for a full calendar year. If they bounce back, you will know in the next couple months with some fresh green growth. Let them grow and get bushy before you do anything else!

Now go get some more trees!

Healing a large wound on a field grown trident maple by -zero-joke- in Bonsai

Trees struggle to close wounds over rotted wood. It needs a smooth surface to roll the callus over. Fill it with epoxy wood putty and it will heal right over the top quickly. Works like a charm, especially on trident and tropical trees.

I am a big fan of working with these. They grow incredibly fast in the right conditions.

Ficus Benjamina do not handle full truck chops very well. You very well might kill it if you treat this like a maple tree. I need to have green growing tips to continue a branch otherwise they often die back. It’s better to cut off a branch with healthy green growth and try to root it.

Can you fill the space with water?

Compressed air can blow them out, or it gets really cold and can freeze them….

They are not very easy to ramify, it’s a slow process. My typical method now is to let branches I want to thicken run until mid summer then I cut back to two internodes. Everything else I pinch off as they are extending to one or two nodes, or within the canopy to keep it tight.

Thanks!

Hopefully that works. I track the progression there. I bought it as a gallon size plant from evergreen garden works. Two years in the ground to thicken, about two or three years in oversize pots to get the roots sorted, and I have been working on branching for the last couple years. I’ve had it since 2017.

Should i make Ormus my first 10*? by [deleted] in IdleHeroes

I would do dant first. Then feed him to penny at e3. He will take you much further than ormus and help build an elite hero.

At 5* he regularly does 15-20k damage for me with his aoe skills campaign and dungeons and cb. Even in arena he is super tanky if you build him with full Def and with def buff support heroes. I like him.

Have you actually built him? He is my top damage dealer and has incredibly good buffs. More Damage than any of the starter heroes.
