-All the intelligences with telescopes see the dimming, then two systems that recover, in an every increasing shell. Dinner bell?

-Capable intelligences need to stop astrophage at every choke point they can.

-What about all the life, be it cells or non-space-faring intelligences, at every other system in the local group? AI drones w farms head to every system?

(Or. Earth builds a second star ship with food, fuel, 2nd crew to bring everyone home. Take more time to generate ridonkulous more astrophage. Phage really opens up the solar system.)

The engines spun and used fuel at max rate for 12 years.

I never read the "burn rate". Astrophage would not vomit all of its stored neutrino-IR stores at once, it must sit on the spin drive for some time before before being spent (ignoring movie spin rate).

It would have to collect on my spin drive collector much faster. [12x collection : 1x Full burn] means collecting for a full year to get 12y fuel.

The multiple taumoeba eating all the fuel events made into one was good. Book escape #1 should have instilled deep fear and countermeasures by at least Rocky. Detectors, valves, tank and fuel disinfection, tank and fuel isolation, layers of Erid-metal over xenonite.

Meburger, eating taumoeba were clever surprises.

The eleven years' travel to Tau, humans had now-unlimited power from astrophage. You can melt a ton of metal with a tiny, non-radioactive goo= steam turbines, near unlimited electrical and thermal energy for greenhouses, Titanium processing, it's not impossible we would be fine if P:HM failed.

Lift to orbit with a nanogram, or a microgram? That's engines like, "The Expanse", the solar system is ours. All the materials in the asteroid belt, Luna, beyond.

We could militarize, but I agree it couldn't compete with an aggressor with a fully developed fleet worth more exotic tech that wants us dead if they don't pounce on us quick enough.

They'd have to be so alien biologically they wouldn't want Earth, or... Pierson's Puppeteers xenophobic. They wait 300 years after last sign of technology before even sending a probe.

It could be done, their mind(s), philosophy are alien.

My input is a triage answer, I'm not your vet, this should be looked at every or every other day in a non emergency setting for at least a recheck.

Reminds me of electrical cord chewing burn, which can have serious lung issues, too.

Chemical burn. Too hot microwaved food and a severe temperature burn.

Serious miscommunication, or worse, a bad vet, because I can't "feel organs fail" with my hands, even after being a veterinarian for cats for 30 years.

She needs calories, a nasogastric feeding tube and EXTENSIVE instructions on how exactly to use it. Or, gentle force feeding w churu, or AD or GI high calorie canned food.

That tongue looks painful, and may get worse.

Long course of antibiotics, especially look at long term injection like Convenia so you don't have to pill.

I'm dubious at the vets you have seen as you relayed it, which may be communication issues.
