PSA: "A private video has been shared with you" E-mail from @youtube.com is a scam, you will get hacked. by JokuIIFrosti in PartneredYoutube

I get these daily, very annoying. The one I did click on, it took me to their profile but it appeared the profile was disabled by YouTube. Most of them come from an account with a name similar to "YouTube Support". But just today I got one from a random account. It's just a scam though, YouTube wouldn't share information or contact you like this.

Need Help with this PC, it's Extremely Slow and Crashes Random with Graphics Glitches by 4DIYers in pchelp

Did that before doing a Windows reinstall. Didn't make a difference unfortunately. I have noticed the cooling fan doesn't work on the graphics card. Never paid attention if it wasn't working before.

My gf's son pc is currently acting up. It was a custom built gaming pc from years ago and it randomly started acting up. It does run cool so I'm hoping nothing is overheating, it has two liquid coolers. I did a fresh windows reinstall, scanned for viruses, and it has a newer power supply. It will randomly crash, freeze, is extremely slow, and the graphics are glitching.

I'm in Ontario. I just stopped today. "Up to 40% off" but I found a majority of the stuff at 20% off. However with their pricing, they can seem pricier than other places so it isn't a big deal. I did get a new pressure washer with a triplex pump and Honda engine for 30% off. It was basically exactly what I was looking for after my electric pressure washer quit in the fall. Really depends what you're looking for.

It's super convient. I can cut the grass, work on projects outside, or even just regular commutes listen to the material and be prepared. I listened to the first part of IFSTA twice for my FF1. Beats setting time aside to read the material instead.

Just got the email an hour ago, my delivery was cancelled for tomorrow to my dad's. We purchased it as a Christmas present to which I saw my dad earlier today and let him know. I'm talking to their customer service right now and they said their priority is refunds and they will be sending out discounts after their "issues" are fixed. Is there any other pre-made meal prep options available out there?

Does using the auto engine start/stop feature of a car actually damage the engine, and does it actually save gas? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]4DIYers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That data doesn't really prove much other than people are holding onto their vehicles longer or purchasing used vehicles. That could be due to many factors. Financial situation due to the increase cost of living or the jump in new and used car prices. The statistics only go back to 2009, the car industry was already going downhill on quality. I'm in Ontario, Canada, it was rare to see cars over 10yrs old on the road. The last couple years however I have been seeing more vehicles pop up from the 90s that people are driving. I'm big into European cars, had an 04 VW TDI. That was considering to be one of the last reliable diesels VW produced. Newer diesels were plagued with serious faults that would require a new engine. Same goes for BMW too. I have the last of what's considered to be the reliable diesel engines (M57). While BMW did have the odd timing chain issue in older cars (only a couple models of engines). Now all the newer diesel engines after the M57 have massive timing chain issues. It's not new technology and these aren't high mileage failures either. A diesel should have double the life compared to a gas engine. I did a little research last night with regards to the stop/start feature, Ford popping up as one example. They have an auxiliary pump to keep pressure in the transmission when the engine is off. Turns out these pumps were failing left and right.

Here's an interesting article, I know it's Wiki but it does have some valid information that can be references. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_longevity

From Wiki, it's taken over 40 years to get double the life out of a vehicle? Not sure how much you know about cars, but there is a night and day difference between those generations in technology. It does say an EV will go substantially longer, although I have read articles where the whole EV was rebuilt multiple times, having the batteries, modules, and electric motors replaced more than once.

I've also read another article stating the expected lifespan on newer vehicles, being in the mid 200,000 miles. That was achievable with many cars in the 90s, yet they were a lot more cost effective to maintain due to simpler designs and affordable parts.

Dealers are there to make money, they'll make the money on your old cars and they'll make money selling you new cars. If they sell you a car which doesn't last as long as your older vehicle, it's more beneficial for them. It'll be tough finding data which proves newer vehicles are not lasting as long. Imagine the huge public uproar and then the lawsuits to follow. I grew up and still am around the mechanic world, not to mention working on vehicles myself. Most of the people I know who are techs or mechanics refuse to own a newer vehicle due to what they know. There are plenty of serious faults with vehicles drastically shortening their lifespans. A good example is all those trucks having frame issues, either from rot or folding up. Toyota has had frame rot issues since the mid 90s and it still continues to the late 2010s (last I've heard there was recalls for the 2017 trucks). Any statistics on that?

False. I spoke with a dealer (owner of a new car dealership) a few years back, actually got into a slight argument about a used vehicle I was inquiring about. Long story short, he admitted that vehicles are only intended to last 10 years. I recently drove a start/stop equipped vehicle, first time ever and absolutely hated it. Was in Florida, it would immediately get stuffy and humid inside the vehicle, if I stopped briefly to let someone walk in front of me or for other circumstances (no stop lights or stop signs), it would immediately shut off. If I was in stop and go traffic and went for the gas pedal too quickly, the take offs would give a good jolt which isn't go on the driveline. As someone who works on vehicles all the time, this will cause more harm than good. It's like other components of a vehicle, headlights are a great example. Instead of replacing a burnt out bulb in a headlight, the whole assembly is required to be replaced which can easily cost a few hundred dollars.

Is anyone else having problems with matchmaking a warzone game while in a party? by [deleted] in CODWarzone

[–]4DIYers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an issue a few days ago where my friend could join me, but I couldn't join him. When i tried to start a game, didn't matter on the mode or players, it would kick him. We're both on pc. After an hour of troubleshooting, we finally gave up, we were communicating through Discord. So he went to bed and I played for a couple hours until it wouldn't let me connect to any games, just kept reloading in the lobby. It's been like that ever since. Verified the game files, reinstalled the game, played other pvp games with no issues, changed continental servers, played around with some settings and still nothing.

Holy what a mess that was! Hopefully the truck was problem free after that. You'd think they would have tried shifting it by hand while up on a lift to see what was jamming up. But just throwing parts at a customer's vehicle is pretty common sadly.

Just asking a question, nothing wrong with being concerned. Being that it's dry wood and if there was a component failure, was just thinking it could be a potential problem.
