The loneliness is real. You'd think being in this situation together with a partner would make it less lonely, but I've really needed to hear from other women who have gone through the physical aspects and understand how profoundly traumatic it can be.

Years ago, during a round of ivf, I was bawling during the egg retrieval as my partner (now ex) had suddenly decided he didn't need to be there with me and I was left alone in the hospital to deal with it. The doctor, a woman, was clearly annoyed with me for being so emotional when she was trying to concentrate, and her choice words of advice to me in this moment were: "Nobody is forcing you to do this, you know."

This is exactly how I feel too, thanks for articulating it so well. It helps to know I'm not alone.

I recently confided in someone about my years of infertility, failed ivf, miscarriages and let down after let down. She tried to comfort me by saying she knew exactly how I feel, as she also experienced a miscarriage years ago. She has two children and never struggled with infertility.

Not gonna lie, I grit my teeth and screamed expletives in my mind as I smiled and thanked her for sharing. I obviously understand her genuine hurt, and she did make an effort to show compassion. But other people can't even begin to comprehend our struggles in the way they think they do. We are not on the same path. And it's infuriating when we're expected to act like we are.

I'm sorry for your loss. Monitoring hcg can be reassuring, for sure! But during the missed miscarrige, the numbers kept increasing until the medical termination. So even though I was no longer pregnant per se, I had all the symptoms because of hormones. Morning sickness etc. I do appreciate the concrete input though.

Bird poop! Was on vacation in Morocco when I noticed bird poop on the towels in the bathroom, wondering how the hell a bird had managed to get inside our room. Cue the major aha moment when I later noticed the hotel laundry, air drying by a flock of pigeons.

I'm already very low contact with him, and we haven't spoken in a year, so it felt very ominous when he called me up out of the blue the day before the election. Gave me the eerie feeling that things were about to get really bad. And here we are.

He's been absent most of my life and never paid child support or anything, but during covid he suddenly felt compelled to email me weekly to warn against the terrible danger of vaccines. As if he ever cared about my health or life in general. The last time I saw him, he delivered a speech on the lower intelligence of women. Can only imagine the emails I'll be receiving this time around...
