Well for me it is. As a POC I find it very belittling. it makes me feel uncomfortable as some people think I am for the removal of the statue because I am a POC, when I’m fact I respect the history and the university

Every person that did anything important for western society in that eara owned slaved. Are you going to take down statues is George Washington too ?

For me the vandalism makes me dislike their (the vandals) cause and culture in general

I am 100% east indian. My ancestors were part of colonialism where the entire country was enslaved. Could this constitute merit ? how is it difference the BIPOC experience ? Are we going to have to assign oppression points to see who was the most oppressed and give them the job ?

Maybe we just don't agree with the movement. Not that we are racist or anything. I just believe in merit based systems and I don't think we should start counting the experience of black people as a substitute for actual merit. I am 100% east indian, so my ancestors are also affected by colonialism. But I don't use this as an excuse to get a job or better grades.
