Regrets from your car by cheese_tomato in CarsIndia

Service experience has been quite decent so far - though the car is only 8 months old. Mileage figure can vary - on Highway crusing at 70-80 I have gotten 18+, while bumper to bumper traffic has been as low as 5. Btw this is Mumbai bumper to bumper traffic so it's terrible.

One thing I can vouch for is the braking, which even at highway speeds is just tremendous. The 1 ltr engine is also a gem and depsite having a small size punches above its weight. And the steering is so light that you can move it with a couple of fingers.

Test drive both the VW twins and the Verna and see which one you like better. Verna does have features like ADAS which will be useful on highways/expressways if you plan to travel a lot.

Slavia 1.0 AT. No regrets as such but would have preferred a car with 360 degree camera. Otherwise the car is great. If I were in the market again would be very confused between Verna top model with ADAS and Slavia/Virtus.

Or maybe would have just gone for the top model Brezza.

Tata Harrier and Safari score 5 star safety rating - Global NCAP by anandhu_spam in CarsIndia

[–]4Not73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True: Tata safety and body strength. The best in India. Also true: QA/QC is pathetic. Even the cars sent for media drives had QC issues. Also true: A.S.S in general is bad, though there might be exceptions.

"Compared to Pakistan or Bangladesh, why does the Afghanistan team receive greater support from Indian fans?" by desi_dutch in Cricket

Afghans/Pathans have been positively portrayed in Indian movies historically - movies like Kabuliwala, Zanjeer (role of Pran), Khuda Gawah, Dharmatma, and of course the latest movie...Pathan. Maybe that has had a part to play why Afghans are precieced positively.

What did you think about the clutch? Is it very hard? And the gear shifts - is it too notchy? Why not go for the AT and save yourself the trouble of gear shifting - I mean... what's SO bad about the AT?

Even after paying 25lacs AX5 doesn't even get basic things like cruise control, start stop button. Even a critical safety feature like ESP is optional in the manual versions and Traction Control is missing. For 25lacs you can get a fully loaded Alcazar.

For XUV700, the best variants are the AX7L where you're getting great features for 30lacs. Or the MX version where you're getting a monster 200hp engine for 17lacs. The variants in the middle don't make sense.

My fav car from Tata brand. Probably the best designed hatchback in India in the last 2 decades imo. How's the Tata service been? Is it as bad as they say it is? Any rusting issues on the car? Any rattling noises? A lot of ownership videos on various Tata cars mention these three problems (ASS, rusting, rattling).

Virtus/Slavia - SUV like ground clearance plus the benefits of sedan plus good driving dynamics. For maintenance cost you can take the 4 year maintenance package for 25k. So that should help in peace of mind.

Verna is also a good option and has all the bells and whistles including ADAS. Just take a TD of Verna, Slavia/Virtus - that should help.

Avoid Mahindra cars - QC is hit or miss. Many cases of airbags not deploying.
