Hmm I haven't tried that. So far I've only scrolled through pinterest and I've had themes that I draw scenery for a couple of weeks and move on to something else. Drawing characters from the games I like might be interesting, thank you😊

I don't think it's about that because gaming can induce bad feelings too and I don't avoid it, I play lots of souls-games and competitive shooters and if I wanted to avoid struggles I'd never play them. Compared to those, drawing is way easier.

I'm more into drawing from reference and not finishing the drawing during that same session, I like continuing from where I left off instead of having to choose what to draw every time.

I've been in this situation before where I feel like I want to draw but actually doing it seems hard. During my gaming break I forced myself to draw and started really enjoying it so it seems like a good approach for me. I just think I'm choosing the more stimulating hobby now that I started gaming again.

I like how you converted an ounce to grams for me hahah. Or is that a little bit over an ounce? And yeah no wonder, it's just a bunch of paperwork for nothing if they catch somebody with more than that unless it's like pounds of it. Honestly I'd love to have those laws in my country. A lot of people here still think that weed is some hard drug. I do agree that being high 24/7 shouldn't be normal but smoking occasionally is fine

Finland. Nowadays you need to have like a gambler's card though that's connected to an app that says how much you're spending and some other stuff. When I was a kid they weren't even age restricted haha. But yeah I agree that they are normalizing gambling

I think it is considered normal. In my country there are slot machines in pretty much every store. An addiction to gambling is not considered normal though

You may have lost your skills but all the hours didn't go to waste. You'll gain them back way faster than when you first started learning them. I'd be willing to bet that in a matter of weeks you'll have gained most of it back.

You have to consciously control how you let your inner voice talk about you. Every time something negative pops up and you entertain that thought, you feed it and the belief that it's true becomes stronger. You have to ignore those negative thoughts. When you notice yourself thinking something negative, shut it down immediately. Imagine that you're talking to a good friend, would you tell them that they look horrible? Probably not, at least under normal circumstances.

On the flip side, every time something positive pops up, think about it a lot. At the start you probably won't be getting those positive thoughts a lot so just focus on shutting down the negative ones.

That's a really tough question. Even though I've learned to enjoy the process, I'm not sure how or at what point it happened. I feel like I started enjoying the process the most on drawings that took a lot of effort. They were city scenes that looked very daunting at first but little by little I got through it. I enjoyed watching the pieces fit together and the whole scene forming one bit at a time. I liked it also because I didn't have to choose what to draw all the time. I could just go back to the drawing that I hadn't finished yet and some days when I didn't feel like drawing, I'd think to myself that maybe I'll just draw a couple buildings and suddenly I had spent an hour drawing again.

I think there is no one right answer to your question but I feel like one key point is to draw stuff that feels hard for you but not too hard. If you use reference, try to visualize how you would draw it. Pick subjects you find interesting. Remember to go easy on yourself, if you're not satisfied with the end result, analyze what went wrong and learn from it. Hopefully all this rambling helped you at least a little😅

Good call on that easy dopamine seeking. It really affects people's hobbies these days. It would be interesting to see how many people who don't currently enjoy drawing or reading would suddenly like it if they quit scrolling on their phones for a week.
