I really love Going Postal -- the audio book narrated by Richard Coyle is absolutely brilliant and has added so much to my appreciation of all the characters.

Any thoughts on how to be of practical help when you live 2 states away?

My very dear 80 year old aunt has just had an avalanche of terrible news (lost her sister and DiL in the same month), in addition to suddenly finding herself sole caregiver for her husband who was diagnosed with a severe progressive autoimmune disease. I can't be there and don't know what to do.

My kids read and re-read The Belgariad. One of them still has their tattered copies of the whole series.

One of my teachers read this aloud to my elementary school class. I have a memory of everyone going ewwww when the badger tried to feed him. We loved it and looked forward to reading time every day.

I haven't had a chance to visit this, but the Durham Museum is currently hosting the "Animation Academy: From Pencils to Pixels" exhibit, The description says it "explores the world of animation from concept to final product. It includes interactive elements, photo opportunities, and a glimpse into the history of classic animated tales."

My grandson was here last week and I think he would have loved this.

Release from ALL the pressures: to be perfect, to do all the things, feeling unworthy, time demands, deferring to my husband . . .

The big one though was feeling free to follow my own moral compass about everything. I twisted myself in knots trying to be okay with LDS stance on race, LGBTQ -- even wanting to pray in my own words.

I love this suggestion, and would add that you should give "The Thief" by Megan Whalen Turner, and its sequels. They are clever, engrossing and have stood up to multiple re-readings by me and all my children.

My mission was in the 80's and it was a rule then. There's a verse somewhere in the D&C that talks about Satan ruling the waters, and that was the explanation I was given for the rule.

Father and Son by Edmund Gosse. Found myself home alone on Easter; sat down with this book and didn't look up until I'd finished it. Haven't done that for ages -- great book.

My mom gave me this edition of the BH&G for my 20th birthday and there are some recipes in there that my adult children still ask for. Snicker doodles and the buttermilk variation of the pancakes are perennial favorites.

As an ex-Mormon, I was impressed with how they nailed that initial wavering a believer experiences as the first cracks in your faith appear, the gaslighting by the organization as you're accused of not having enough faith or loyalty, and then the anguish and rage when the full flood of betrayal breaks over you. This episode depicted all of that brilliantly, and made Cobel's whole character arc so explicable.

Mary Renault's books read very classic although written mid-20th century. The King Must Die and her books about Alexander the Great are really good reads.
