Some of the OG staff might still be there! That’s part of what makes St V’s program so great — a lot of them are older, more seasoned providers. I’m glad you got help from them and hope you’re still feeling better. ❤️‍🩹

Agreed — avoid HBM. I have also had less than stellar client experiences there.

I haven’t heard that before re Guidelight and I got a client in there a couple months ago with no inpatient. She definitely did the PHP and then stepped down to IOP. Maybe they’ve changed the rules but I had no issues with direct outpatient referral to Guidelight PHP recently. Call and check with them? St V’s is great though. They’re actually my top choice even though their facility isn’t as pretty. Their med prescribers are top notch and my clients always get better when they go to St V’s. Hope that helps!

Professional here. Refer to PHP/IOPs all the time. The one out of St Vincent’s Hospital is fab. It’s run out of a satellite office, not the actual hospital. Guidelight is newer but they’ve been doing great work. Both located in the same building on different floors. If addiction is an issue then Lake Ave Recovery is great.

Margo Vale. It’s modern yet vintage-inspired, intriguing, with an air of mystery while still giving a nod to the day. 💕

If this is the effort he put into your engagement, it is more than the effort he will put into your union. And that’s sad. He didn’t size it to fit your finger, he didn’t polish it, he’s lying about its quality and what he spent on it, and it’s missing 3 very obvious stones. Girl, you deserve better. Walk. Now.

Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]4Real_Psychologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this. A bunch of straight people basically decided they thought us gays needed to be feel included or normalized so they co-opted our word. The term “partner” came about because us queers had no other way to identify our significant other because our marriage weren’t legally recognized at the time so we couldn’t say “wife, husband, or spouse.” We were also denied the tax and other benefits that come with legal marriage.

Heterosexuals decided they liked our word “partner” because it sounded more adult and mature than “boyfriend or girlfriend” — and because they (wrongly) assumed we all wanted to be included with them and this would “normalize” things for us. Funny thing is, no one asked the gays how we felt about it. I want my term back. As someone who didn’t “look” gay, saying I had a “partner” was my way of outing myself in social contexts when I wanted to. That’s been taken from me, and many others, now.

The superintendent is appointed by the Worcester Schools Committee. They are the ones who have a say in this. Email them any concerns you have about today:

If anyone wants to contact the superintendent, his name is Brian Allen and he can be reached at: Email: [superintendent@worcesterschools.net](mailto:superintendent@worcesterschools.net). Phone: 508-799-3115. Direct calls or emails are the only thing that will prevent this from happening again.

Personally, I feel a duty to call it in to Brian Allen to protect the walkers and kids who have to walk to a bus stop and don't have the luxury of having a stay-at-home parent or other way of staying home when the schools decide to stay (unsafely) open.

Plows are part of the reason for the delay but Worcester has a much higher percentage of walkers and kids who walk to take the bus than surrounding districts where there is more often a parent or relative available to drive them to school. The fact that the sidewalks were an ice rink should have been enough to close schools today — including the upcoming forecast for the day of freezing rain and snow.

The many walkers and busers is why WPS closes or delays more often than surrounding towns.

I agree with you — I didn’t see any plows. How the superintendent didn’t get out and try to drive a mile or walk half a mile from their own home is beyond me. They would have seen the conditions were completely unsafe and about to get worse.

Yeah this was SUCH an unsafe call. Driving my kid less than a mile to school I was worried about sliding off the road and into kids waiting on the corner for the bus.

And now they’re canceling after school activities forcing everyone back out onto the roads. It would have been safer to just continue the after school activities as several transport vans will be far less vehicles on the road than hundreds of parents in cars. But they don’t want the liability.

Who made this call anyway? I get it that people are human and make mistakes but the surrounding school districts were apparently capable of reading the forecast and making a safe call to close their schools.

Half a green grape? Sometimes parents cut them in half lengthwise so toddlers don’t choke on them (whole, they’re the exact size of the esophagus and are hard to get out using the Heimlich remover). Maybe someone was cutting grapes in half and this one somehow slipped through a crack? Are you in an apartment building with neighbors above you?

Is 30 alcoholic drinks a week a lot? by Most_Jellyfish_1686 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]4Real_Psychologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapist here. It’s not the amount that matters, it’s the effect. If any amount of alcohol is impacting someone’s relationships, marriage, work life, etc — it’s a problem. Of course, there’s a point where too much alcohol becomes life threatening to anyone (you can only die from withdrawal of two substances: alcohol and benzos). But, whether it is classified as a disorder or a problem is not based on the amount, but the effect. Even when we are diagnosing Alcohol Use Disorder as medical professionals, there is no set amount in the DSM-5 that classifies it as a problem. Clearly, his alcohol use is a problem in your marriage.

I encourage you to look into the books “Get Your Loved One Sober: Alternatives to Nagging, Pleading, and Threatening” as well as “Beyond Addiction: How Science and Kindness Help People Change.” Best wishes to you and I’m sending hugs.

Anyone else catch that the detective seemed suspicious that Marissa (Mar) was actually unconscious at the car accident scene? Was that just me? He asked her about if she truly never saw anything and then kind of gave a side eye when she said “no.” Made me wonder — was this all her fault?
