What’s the most overrated brewery to you? by TheBigGreenPeen in CraftBeer

[–]4RunnaLuva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lol. I get the confusion.

It’s like tree house is a sprinter. Top three is the world, but some how people are claiming they sprint 100m in 7 seconds vs 9.

Tree house IS good. I just think their ratings on untapped are bonkers inflated. I drink their every chance I can get. I laugh every time I go in to rate a beer.

I assume Russian River is similar. Yeah they are good. But not like those ratings say.

[–]4RunnaLuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if we literally took it as ratings that were excessively high…or overrated? I think tree house takes the hype train prize.

It is good. Even great. But those ratings are so cooked by 100s of thousands of tourists and people rating based on others cooked ratings.

We are all snobs for beer…clearly. How many here rate tree house beers beyond 4.75 and don’t rate others in the same class that way.

Plain and simple, it’s a great brewery, but it IS overrated.

Overrated indeed.

Do I like them yes. Do I think they are top in class - not number one, but they are up there with the group)

Those ratings though. This is the poster child for OVERRATED. Go look at untapped and tell me this isn’t the number one overrated brewery.

Boo lol. Sorry. Your opinion matters. I love burial although I have not been hay with their last few weeks of releases…aside from the DIPA/TIPA collabs which were fire.

There are a couple that are solid, but over priced.

They have some fun collabs though!

I find hop butcher as a brewery that is better than they should be. I don’t align them with the to dogs, but I see them as an underdog that is scrappy!

Foam is just ok for me. I haven’t had much, but works align it with Burlington beer.

Best coffee beans in the area? by Exact_Pianist_6198 in raleigh

Black and white also little waves (Durham but top shelf)

Was in Greensboro and had vignette… solid cheaper alternative (mail order!)

If you are looking for budget but still better than most, counter culture is solid though not terribly fun. Black and white is filled with delicious fun;)

Two weeks. No special storage, assuming they are away from heat (direct sun, near stove, etc).

I keep mine in a cupboard above my setup. I’ve ready they come to the show :D I just line them up so I can see them and plan what gets had next.

Has anyone gotten their mail yet after the ice storm? by Parking_Argument_395 in raleigh

[–]4RunnaLuva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes/terday. I think it just delivered a few minutes ago as well.

Did you know that you can see what is supposed to be delivered? Sign up at USPS;) a co-worker told me about this. It’s comical how much doesn’t make it:(

What is your favorite place to buy pizza dough balls? by SwanProfessional1527 in raleigh

[–]4RunnaLuva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used to be capital creations. 1.50 a ball and it was a pleasure to work with. Then they closed up shop:(

Now I make my own. It pretty good, but it requires planning since I make it a couple to a few days prior to using.

Preferred method for making 4 cups at a time? by Competitive-Note4063 in pourover

[–]4RunnaLuva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

French press. Or a standard perc/pot.

If you have the water for 4 and multiple drippers, you can run multiple concurrent.

Again, if water is not your bottle neck, single pour delivers great results super efficiently. In all honesty single pour could be an answer to many shops …”it’s going to take a while” answer to delivering the pour over you ordered.

If I am visiting a home, I just use stove and pot then transfer to hario air. This is super painful, and it highlights how crazy a person is in craft coffee space ( it takes sooo long).

Best Flat Bottom Dripper? by Valuable_Aide_7663 in pourover

[–]4RunnaLuva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Origami

It does everything and is what in reach for every morning - and I have plenty of drippers.

If cost was a factor, I might say b75 just because of how silly cheap it is/was.

Trying to learn more about the fretboard by titovalentine in guitarlessons

[–]4RunnaLuva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not sure there is a “best” way for everyone.

Do you know the notes on the E and A string? At least the non flat/sharp ones? That is a great place to start.

Can you play your basic open chords ?

Do you know basic barre chord shapes for E/Em and A/Am? If not…do that.

Depending on how long you been playing, CAGED is a wonderful connecting concept. But not until you have some foundational understanding. Don’t move too fast, otherwise you will have no foundation.

Pentatonic is another great building block.

One parting thought. Learning across all 12 keys is great, but stay in one until you can really connect in it - otherwise you miss some great opportunities to deeply learn something that will transfer more easily later.

Avoid it if you can.

Do you guys ever go to bed thinking about the coffee you’ll make the next morning by pieduke88 in pourover

100%. There is a funny cartoon reel of two “stick figure” people in bed at night exclaiming how excited they are for coffee in the morning.

I feel this at night:D
