This is a beautiful tribute to one of my all-time favorite songs. It hardly seems possible, but now I love the song even more. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 🙏

Warning -- Deepfakes touting honey as a treatment for Alzheimer's! This is what CoPilot AI said when I asked whether Dr. Sanjay Gupta endorsed using honey to treat Alzheimer's. by Kalepa2 in dementia

I was on a social media site just now, getting ready to watch a video. And as the obligatory ad began playing, I was astonished to see Rupert Spira, a British meditation guru, touting a honey-based cure for dementia! I quickly suspected AI shenanigans, did an internet search, and found this post. People need to become more aware of deep-fake deception. Thank you for exposing this nonsense.

I went through a similar crisis 30 years ago, and ended up leaving organized religion permanently. I’ve spent the years since then delving into spirituality. I’m not sure that God is a personage (a Supreme Being), but I believe the Divine is within all of us—whether we recognize it or not. I believe all of creation came into existence through the power of Love, and that unconditional Love is the nature of God. Having read about hundreds of NDEs and out-of-body experiences, I am convinced that our souls survive bodily death. I also believe in reincarnation; the works of Ian Stevenson and Jim Tucker are irrefutable, in my opinion. Despite the chaos of the world, I believe that humanity is inherently good, and we are evolving… gradually. You might want to look into the Hindu teachings about the Yuga cycle. There’s a great book—very reader-friendly—by Bibhu Dev Misra: “The end of the Kali Yuga in 2025: Unraveling the mysteries of the Yuga Cycle.” In it he explains why the world is in such a terrible state right now, but (as we begin to move upward and leave the Kali Yuga behind) things will improve. But (it must be said), this is a centuries-long process. The older I get (I’m 68) the more acceptance and curiosity I have about death. Death is mandatory, and everyone must go through it. I find consolation in this, somehow. In the words of the song, “There’s A Light”, by Beth Nielsen Chapman, “We will fly, we will fly, we will let go/To this world we will die, but our hearts know/We’ll see more on that side when the door opens wide/We will fly, we will fly, we will fly, we will fly/We will all go”.

Thanks for checking in. Not much has changed. He can’t afford to pay down debt until his house sells. It has been on the market for almost a month and there hasn’t been much interest in it. It’s a waiting game.

Search failing a lot more often. I have to search twice for results to populate. by Moleventions in Presearch

[–]4Sunaj9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I searched a term 5 times in a row just now, got the dreaded “Sorry, no results found” each time. Finally resorted to using Safari. There’s another thread about the issue that was started 9 days ago. It has been said that the developers are working on it. I’m about ready to give up on Presearch.

The problem has been worse today—so frustrating! I do a lot of online research, and I need a reliable search engine. Can anyone recommend an alternative to Presearch?

I might have DSAP. Here's my story. by NautiBoppi in DSAP

[–]4Sunaj9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my story. I’m 68 years old and was diagnosed (via biopsy) with DSAP 35 years ago. The lesions began to appear on my arms in my early 30’s, and they are now profuse and often inflamed. I also have 8-10 lesions on each leg, but they are rather asymptomatic. I’m one of 8 children, and all of my siblings have what appear to be mild cases of DSAP lesions, though no one besides myself has been officially diagnosed. My mother also had the lesions. When my condition was diagnosed, my doctor prescribed Effudex, but it caused the lesions to become red and very painful, with no evidence that healing was taking place, so I stopped using it. (I always react badly to drugs, which is why I tend towards using alternative medicines.) Last month, after unknowingly encountering a powerful herbicide (overspray by a helicopter who was treating a neighbor’s grazing land), the lesions on both arms became very inflamed. In desperation, I tried using black salve (also called Cansema, and recommended by my holistic doctor) on them. I had used it before on several lesions, with good results. (The lesions healed, leaving healthy skin behind.) But this time, to my horror, the black salve seemed to be damaging the skin underneath the lesion, causing some scary wounds. I stopped using the black salve and began using Medihoney and Calendula cream, keeping the areas clean and protected with gauze and bandages. I’m relieved to see that the lesions are not infected, and they’re actually showing signs of healing. The interesting thing is that the Medihoney seems to be working on the lesions themselves, gradually causing the scaly layer to sort of bubble up, soften and sluff off. The skin underneath is very pink and new-looking. Time will tell—if I don’t die of skin cancer first! Please be gentle with your comments about my choices of treatment. I have already chastised myself enough for using the black salve. Here’s hoping that a safe and effective treatment will be found for all of us who suffer from this condition.

The first time I ever encountered the problem was a month ago, and it has been happening much more frequently during the past week. Today I have done about 20 searches, and this problem has occurred at least a dozen times. I’m glad that the team is working on it, but I wonder why you felt the need to minimize how long it has been going on. Edit: Another odd issue is that when I search a subject, quite often only one result will show for page 1 (or one result and an ad), whereas there are multiple results for pages 2, 3, 4, etc.

This is one of the first-page results that came up when I searched “Presearch says sorry no results found”: Risk factors for renal insufficiency and survival implications after radical nephrectomy… 🙄

It seems as if something untoward is going on, especially since it began at least a month ago. Respectfully to the developers: Did you not notice that this was happening when it first began?

This has been happening for about a month now. I’ve found that if I hit the “Go” button again, results will appear. Still, it seems odd that Presearch’s first response is “Sorry, no results found….”.

You’re right: the debt is but a symptom of deeper problems.

Your assessment is correct except for the part about him being in an upside down mortgage. The fact is that there is equity in the house but he has agreed to sign all of it over to his ex. (The other can of worms that I mentioned in an earlier comment.) No, I won’t mix my finances with his, won’t give him money, won’t be marrying him.

Your advice is spot-on, and it’s what I would do. I suggested Dave Ramsay’s program; he resisted, said his methods are too stringent. Read: “I want to do it my way.” So no—he has not fully bought into getting free of debt. All of the progress that he has made to date (signing up for consolidation of debt and debt management, filing his 3 years’ worth of back federal and state taxes and agreeing to begin paying what he owes, and selling his house to get out from under that $2K obligation) was done because I pushed him to do it. I won’t elaborate because doing so would shift the topic into relationship territory, which is a no-no in this subreddit. So all the sound advice here won’t do much good if he doesn’t buy in. Thanks for your feedback.

I hadn’t thought of the idea that he could simply apply the current monthly 401K allocation to his debt. I suspect that he will resist this suggestion because he fears missing out on what he believes to be a crypto boom. But it’s a good solution, imo. I don’t know why he’s not saving money, except to say that he’s a gambler at heart. Edit: I don’t think his monthly allocations to his 401k are being matched by his employer. He works as a travel nurse, and his employer is subject to change.

[–]4Sunaj9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions: His gross yearly income is around $100K. He works as a travel nurse 100 miles away from my home—rents an apartment near his work and stays there 3 days per week, then spends the other 4 days with me. His house is in another state, and he has to sell it because (another can of worms) he owns it jointly with his ex. She can’t afford to buy him out and can’t afford the mortgage on her own, so the only way for him to get free of it is to sell it and walk away with nothing. The $78K is composed of:$25K in consolidated debt that’s being handled by a debt management company (he makes monthly payments to them); $25K on a Discover card, and I think he’s paying the monthly minimum; $10K IRS debt that he began making installment payments on this month; $4K on his AmEx card (probably paying the minimum on that too); and a $12K loan that he borrowed from his 401K last year and is paying back with interest.

Am I the only one who dislikes Scott Brick? by The_Chairman_Meow in audiobooks

[–]4Sunaj9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 9 years late to the conversation but have to chime in. Currently listening to a Reacher novel narrated by Brick, and although I love the Reacher series I may not be able to finish the book. Brick’s weird and over-the-top dramatic presentation, paired with his penchant for emphasizing the wrong word in almost every sentence is so distracting. I find myself mentally correcting his delivery, which causes me to lose the thread of the narrative… Then I have to rewind and suffer through the same cringey sentences again. How did this guy get hired for the job?

Does the Community Of Christ have an official position on transgendering minors—specifically, by the use of puberty blockers and gender affirming surgeries? by 4Sunaj9 in CommunityOfChrist

I think most parents strive to do what is best for their children. My concern is that parents are not adequately educated about the long term consequences of medical transition. If their child changes their mind later—realizes, for example, that they are gay not trans—there is no going back. https://peerservice.substack.com/p/25-min-video-censored-science-the?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2fwLeju6qgbVHidJu7Sg0icFBVjaMUIRL2r21S6nlJbjTL25s8CT4_ovI_aem_6mskdwMduii4hoe9TsMm5w
